Tessie

I'm Tessie (used to be known as Fiesta).  I LOVE my new home!  My mom took me to the vet a few days after she brought me home and found out I had some health problems including an under bite (might have to have teeth pulled, when I grow up), and a skin condition called "Demodex."  It's an auto-immune "mite" problem.  It's not contagious, but is it a pain in the neck!  My mom has to give me medication everyday for months, a special bath once a week (which I HATE), and I have to go back to the vet every two weeks for a skin scraping.  Ouch!  My medicine tastes awful, but my mom doesn't care and keeps giving it to me!  Here's the good news though! My skin is now negative and I'm fine and don't have to wait the 6 months and taste that awful medicine!

My housebreaking is coming along.  I do have accidents occasionally because I still don't always tell them when I need to go out, so they're letting me out every two hours.  Shadow  (my big lab sister) is doing fine, and would still probably prefer me not being here.  She's ok, though.  My kids are great--they love me and I really love them.  I love chewing on my bones and playing catch with balls or my stuffed toys.  Super fun!  I look huge in a couple of my pictures, but I'm only about 38 pounds.  I'm still not thrilled about my crate, but I go in, when my family has to leave.  I do sleep in the bedroom with them.  Sometimes on the bed, sometimes on the bathroom floor, and sometimes next to Shadow.  The best part is, I stay dry all night!!!!  I'm pretty lucky I found them, and all in all, I've been pretty darn good!  Hope you like the pictures!  Thanks, Tessie Boulia (my 'mom' helped me write this)

Casper

Hello Planned Pethood and thanks to all of you who volunteer your time to this great organization.  We adopted Casper (a 9 month old Westie mix) at the PetSmart sponsored adoption in Monroe, MI on 5/31/08.  Casper has adjusted to his new home and he has trained us well already.  Casper and his new big brother Buddy are getting along famously.  Buddy is a 9 yr old terrier mix that we adopted as a puppy from the Monroe County Humane Society so we has some concern that Buddy would get jealous after ruling the roost for so many years.  We need not have worried at all, from day one the boys eat together, sleep together and play together.  Casper has improved the quality of all of our lives but Buddy in particular is reaping the benefits of socializing and with all the running and playing he's dropped 3 pounds already. I've attached pictures of our boys begging for a treat and intently watching the preparation of dinner in hopes something will hit the floor. Thanks again to all the volunteers and foster parents your work is sincerely appreciated. Warmest Regards-Garilee & Eric Hart

Lily

Hello to Everyone at Planned Pethood!

Lily Stubleski just celebrated her second anniversary with her forever mom (Kristie) and I thought it was time to let you all know how she is doing.

Lily has been a great dog and I think she is loving her new life.  She gets more attention than most kids and she's definitely a pampered pooch.  She has the most amazing personality!  She demands belly rubs.  She yowls (1/2 bark, 1/2 howl) when she feels she's being ignored.  She tricks her mom into getting out of bed just so she can take over her spot.  She's a 40 pound beagle mix that thinks she's a tiny lap dog (and she loves her froggy toy). This is a picture that shows her all tuckered out after a play session with her favorite squeaky.

She is still afraid of thunder storms and fireworks but we found that if we just try to ignore her she will find a "safe" spot and ride it out.  She definitely loves her mommy.  Lily stays with us when her mom goes to work and usually pouts for awhile when she first leaves. Sometimes she even sits up on our bed watching out the window for mom's car to return and she's always thrilled when her mom gets home.

Like most beagles she loves to "follow the scent" so we really have to watch not to leave the gate open.  She managed to get out of the yard not too long ago and ended up in a neighbor's garbage bag.  I don't know what was in it but it was the most horrible stench I've ever smelled.  I caught up to her just as she took a big old happy roll in it.  OMG!  I was sure that awful smell would never go away.  Two baths later she finally started to smell like a dog again. Anyway,  thank you for bringing Lily into our lives.  We love her dearly!  Love-Lily's Grandma Cheryl

Kini Thank you Planned Pethood for the services and opportunities you provide. Thank you to the person (s) who rescued Kini and those who provided any needed medical attention, financial assistance and housing to her before I was given the honor of adopting her.

Kini has enriched my life in ways I cannot even begin to describe. She is a warm, gentle, lovable, adorable companion. It seems as if the only goal she has is to love and be loved with no expectations. (Isn't that what everyone wants?) She makes me smile every time I see her and/or think about her. I could never have imagined or hoped for a better cat to be a part of my life. She adapted to her new life and environment very quickly and is flourishing in every way and for that I am grateful. Again thank you to all who came in contact with her before I was able to adopt her because you helped her become who she is and my life is better for it.

Jordan

Jordan has been with us since April 27, 2008.  She seems very content running around on her three baby legs all over the back yard.  She’s also very happy to have two dogs to play with!  Her big doggy brother Luigi is great at tug of war and keep away and her big doggy sister Nikki shows her how to explore the woods.  Jordan also loves cuddling up next to Nikki in their little dog bed for nap time.  She doesn’t seem to have any problem getting around on her three legs, though, like any puppy sometimes she runs too fast for herself and does summersaults.  We never thought we wanted a puppy, having adopted two adult rescue dogs, but Jordan has brought so much joy and energy to our house.  We are so grateful to all the people who supported her financially and to her foster mom Colleen and all the people at Planned Pethood who made sure this adorable animal wasn’t put down just because her leg didn’t work!  If you’d like to see how great Jordan gets around, check out these short videos!

Minnie (Bernice)

Rob and I got Minnie (Bernice) in the beginning of January 2008. She has been a delight to our whole house. She is so nice I couldn't ask for a better dog. She sleeps with me every night, and hogs the bed!! She loves to take walks, play, and snuggle. We love her very much and if I ever get another dog, it will be through Planned Pethood.    Andrea

Toby & Lucky

Hi Planned Pethood!

Since my buddy and I are having another reunion weekend, we thought we'd send you another update.  I'll go first: This is Lucky (the big yellow guy on the wave runner); I was adopted almost 5 years ago and am currently living the life of leisure. During the school year, mom tries to keep me busy with my own classes- I have diplomas for passing all kinds of obedience and agility training classes (boy, do I love running through the tunnels, but I could do without the weave poles).  When mom is on summer break, we head up to the family cottage where I've become quite the water dog--not in the water, mind you, but I love the pontoon boat and especially racing around on the wave runner (always with my safety device on, of course!).  My favorite weekend all summer is when my buddy Toby comes to visit-we play, we reminisce, and we take plenty of time to "smell the flowers," but I can let Toby tell you about that.

Yes, I do like to smell the flowers (right before I pee on them). much more than going on the water or the wave runner. I'm a non-sporting  mutt after all and my fluffy tail doesn't look particularly fluffy anymore when it's soaking wet. I did swim though (we have pictures) and I even made it onto the pontoon boat - and fell off when I tried to jump onto the dock. Yes, I'm a little clumsy sometimes. And since my mom adopted me (Toby) about 3 years ago, a lot has happened: Not only have I passed my Canine Good Citizen test, I have made many friends in the neighborhood (both the 2-legged and the 4-legged kind). I love dog parties and daycare at my friends' house (they have 4 rescue dogs - FUN!) and my mom adopted a kitty sister from the Wood
County Humane Society. And even though there are never enough cookies, I have to say that life has been pretty good to me. (From both of us: )  THANKS SO MUCH FOR FINDING OUR NEW MOMMIES, PLANNED PETHOOD!!

Cooper

Cooper came to my home this past February after I had been looking around to adopt a dog for over a couple of months.  Once I saw his profile on plannedpethood.com I fell in love!  He was definitely my "Mr. Right"!  He came to my home and fit in right away.  He behaved so well and we had so much fun.  He's already claimed his 'spot' in my living room and it's definitely his chair :)  He's willing to share for the small price of a belly rub  :)  He's such a great dog and is always loving and excited when I walk in the door.  It's only been a little over a month and already I'm not sure what I would do without him. Thanks Planned Pethood for making it easy to give Cooper his forever home!!! Katie

Corkey (Digger)

My husband and I adopted a WONDERFUL kitten from Planned Pethood during a visit to the Ann Arbor, Michigan Petco in January.  He was 10 months when we adopted him, and we knew he was meant for us the moment we saw him.  At the time he was named Corky, but we have since re-named him Digger (due to his enthusiastic digging in the litter box!)  Digger is a special needs kitty, as he has cerebellar hypoplasia (CH).  He was scheduled for euthanasia due to the CH, but Karen from Planned Pethood stepped in to foster him.  When we showed up at the adopted fair, Karen told us he had some difficulty walking, couldn't jump, might not be able to climb stairs and we could tell his balance was clearly off, but we were undeterred and took Digger home with us that day.  We took him to our vet, who confirmed the diagnosis of CH, and also found that he was blind on one eye (likely unrelated to the CH).

Since we brought Digger home, he has learned to RUN up and down stairs, jump onto and down from our couch, wrestles and plays with our other 2 kitties until they're exhausted!  He loves cat toys and never leaves my side when I'm home-- he's better than a shadow!  He is a furry little ball of sunshine and a wonderful addition to our family.  I would love to contribute a picture and our story for your "happy ever after" page so that other potential adoptive pet-parents know what that CH kitties are worth saving and make wonderful pets.  Thank you for giving Digger a chance! Sincerely-Kate Przybylo

Vinnie

Hi, it's me, Vinnie and I got my forever home-in November, 2007 when I was I was just a baby. I'm growing up to be really big and strong. I like going for car rides and especially playing with all my dog and cat friends. It's fun going over to grandma and grandpa's house because they spoil me and I get to play with my three cousin dogs and their toys. Squeaky toys are my favorite but for some reason my momma and daddy get a little upset. Maybe it's my timing-- I usually squeak them when they're watching TV and during the night when I roll over, I land on a squeaky toy, so naturally it has to be played with. My momma and daddy are harness training me so I can go camping, canoeing, hiking and fishing with them. I love my mom and dad, they give good treats with plenty of hugs and kisses. But most important, I want to thank my foster mom, Suzie, for teaching me to behave and helping to get me adopted.  Thanks a whole bunch-Love Vinnie!!! Emily and Eric too! (my momma and daddy)

Belle

I adopted Belle from her great foster parents, Judy and Harry. I was so excited when Judy said that I was approved and could take Belle home the same night. My Mom (Carol) went with me to meet Belle. After we left the foster parent’s home we went to the pet store. Belle went with us to girl shop together. She was so cute, looking around and picking out her toys. Then we went home to settle in for the evening with Belle. My mom and I got McDonald’s on the way home and while I was sitting on the floor eating Belle tried to steal a French fry LOL! We let Belle explore the apartment and she came up to us on her terms. Belle saw the fish tank and was taken watching the fish swim back and forth. My dad came over to pick up my mom and also got to meet Belle. After they left for the evening, Belle and I settled in for bedtime. Before bed I was sitting in my chair watching some TV and Belle curled up next to my leg and fell asleep. Soon after I got up to finish getting ready for bed and Belle followed me. When I went the opposite of the bedroom she cried and started to walk towards the bedroom. Belle is already in charge. It didn't take her long at all to adjust and become my friend. She is a total doll. Judy and Harry did such a wonderful job taking care of her. Thank you.

My fiancé Rob got home after Belle and I had already fallen asleep. I heard Rob say to Belle "Ah you are so cute." I had to go to work this morning and Rob was home until he had to go to work late afternoon. I called Rob on my first break to check on Belle and they were napping together. She is so content and seems to be happy. I know that I am happy.

I lost my best friend Brittany who was an 18-1/2 year old silver tabby. Her death broke my heart. We had a close bond and friendship. I will always miss her. Friday February 22, 2008 I lost my mini lop bunny Luvy. Luvy was only with us for 1 ˝ years when she passed away while having surgery. After losing Luvy, I thought my world was never to be filled with the love of a "pet". That was until I met Belle who has helped show me love and happiness once again. I adore Belle and she is so cute and so sweet.

Thank you and a special thanks to Judy and Harry, cat fosters for Planned Pethood, for all the love and care they gave to Belle. We will always keep in touch with them and will always be Belle's other parents. With so many hugs--Belle aka Tinker-Belle/ Bella and Andrea

Julia

Hi there!  We just wanted to share that we are so blessed to have Julia!  She has been an incredible addition to our family!  She's so loving and so nurturing.  Her laid back personality fit right in with us!  She loves when the kids get off the bus and she loves her share of snuggling time!  Thank you so much Planned Pethood for accepting us for Julia's new family!  We are truly blessed to have her as part of our family! Much Love ~ The Bullocks!

Chuckie (Chuck E Cheese)

Hi! Chuckie; formerly Chuck E Cheese; here to tell you that after a few mishaps things are going great in my new home. My brothers; Victor and Lewis; and I play well together. We like to run in the fenced in yard, chase squirrels and wrestle about.  Dad is my favorite 'cause he gives me belly rubs and lets me take naps with him. Just wanted to let you know that life is going good for me.  Thank you Planned Pethood for helping me find such a wonderful family.

Ninja Kitty (Sarge)

This is our lovable Ninja Kitty formerly known as Sarge. We decided to travel all the way to Ohio after seeing different kinds on the internet. We instantly knew he was the one after showing us immediate affection from the second we picked him up. We brought him back to our home in Chicago back in November, and he's been the love of our lives ever since. He's very fond of his stuffed animal cat that he drags up on the bed every night to sleep with. His favorite toy is plastic bottle caps which we're sure he has a stash of somewhere around the house. We changed his name to Ninja because he flips around and is very stable on only his back legs. He loves to give hugs which we've never seen a cat do before. He ONLY eats Fancy Feast because he's such a spoiled cat. Ninja's a personal alarm clock for us. As soon as one of our alarms goes off in the morning, he's all over our faces and necks until we give him kisses back and finally get out of bed. The Ninja's been such a joy in our lives, we couldn't imagine a better to our family. Amanda & Ryan Henricks

Artie and Abner

Hello,
We adopted Artie (now Rufus) and Abner (now Sam) on June 10, 2007 when they were 8 weeks old.  They are now almost a year old and have been such a pleasure, they are always grooming each other, and when our dog Chase is in close proximity, they groom him also.  They are still very close to each other, always romping, playing and chasing each other, and a lot of times, sleeping together.  Rufus is a very vocal cat, Sam is kind of shy but he wants to play all the time, he is always coming to get me to play, then he is vocal, and we call him swarpy tail because his tail swarps all over and he meows the most begging kind of meow.  When I had young children at home they always had a large basket for their toys, now my cats have one.
In the mornings when my husbands alarm clock goes off, here comes Rufus, he spends the whole time in the bathroom with my husband while he showers and gets ready for work, being very vocal, my husband is one that has always had to have his time to wake up slowly, Rufus has changed that..
Our vet and employees have all said that Sam and Rufus could not have found a better home, and they admire their really shiny and sleek black fur.  My vet was so happy I decided to adopt another cat (s) as he knew how much I loved and missed the two cats I lost in a short period of time, Boots was a little over 20 years old, and the other one Snugs was 12 years old and lost his battle with FIV, I was very lonely after so many years of having my friends with me everyday, so glad I adopted Sam and Rufus because I still had a lot of love to offer my furry friends.  Sharon Anderson

Vixey (Red)

This is the story of Vixey.  She used to be named Red, but we changed her name due to her tail looking like a fox’s.  So we named her after the female fox on Fox and the Hound movie.  We adopted her Memorial Day weekend in 2004.  She was not at the adoption event, due to recovering from surgery.  We went up to Michigan, and took our dog with us to make sure that they would get along.  The two of them were great together.  It has been almost four years, and we are still having fun.  She enjoys running around our new 4 acre lot, and runs in giant circles.  She does not like water, as our Golden Retriever does, but will follow him up to the water’s edge.  Vixey has added a lot to our family, and is a special dog.  This is a picture of Vixey sleeping on a couch on a trip to Hilton Head, SC.  I would like to thank Planned Pethood for putting us together with Vixey, and keep up the great work that you do!

Victoria (Caprice)

We adopted Victoria (left) on 9-1-07 and she has fit into our family perfectly.  Her name when we adopted her was Caprice, but we changed it to name her after her foster mom.  Victoria took such good care of our Victoria and you could tell how much she really loved her, but as hard as it was for her to give her up, she still let us adopt her and we will always be grateful for that!  Victoria and our golden retriever, Rusty, get along great!  They are always playing together!  Victoria is about 7 months old now, and she weighs 59 pounds.  Thanks again for everything! The Grady's

Ozzie

I just wanted to let you know how great Ozzie is doing. He fitted in like a glove to his new family and his extended family. He and our son are best friends and are always together. He has gotten very spoiled with his "spa" treatments at Petsmart and  his Milkbones our son sneaks him whenever we aren't looking. Everyone who meets him falls head over heels in love with him. Thank you sooooooo much for placing him with us !!! The Taylor Family

Smoke

We adopted Smoke Stewart (formerly Marci) in March of 2003. Story was, she was found abandoned on Airport Hwy in a cardboard box with 3 siblings at maybe 4 weeks old.  We adopted her at 9 weeks after my husband carried her around Pet Supplies Plus for 2 1/2 hours.  She turned out to be, according to our vet, a mix of Jack Russell & Chesapeake Bay Retriever.

Her very first adventure, 3 days after her adoption, was going to Bristol TN for the NASCAR race; after all she was named after Tony Stewart.  She has been at every race since. Today is her 5th birthday. (We gave her January 17th in memory of my mom)

She is the most wonderful creature!  Protective, intelligent, loyal and just an absolute joy to share life with. We are so grateful to your organization for bringing us together.  They say black dogs are the last to be adopted.  What a major mistake!! She is fantastic and we wouldn't part with her for the world!! Thank you so much for our fur baby!! Trina and Tim Konwinski

Sunshine

Doy, Barb and all you wonderful Angels at Planned Pethood,

Sunshine has brought so much happiness and love to me and my family in such a short time.  I don’t even know where to start there are so many wonderful things about this little angel in our lives.  She is fantastic with the kids and has accepted our kitties like her ‘sisters’.  She is respectful of them, but also wants to play.  She acts like she’s been part of our family forever.

She is about as sweet as she can be.  We put her in a small crate right by our bed the first night she was here and she didn’t whine once – we did this just because our cats sleep on the bed, and I didn’t want to throw her in their faces the very first night.  However, the second night she whined a little because she was getting attached to us (me a bit more than the rest of the family, but she loves everyone).  So, I took her little bed out of the crate and put it right next to me.  She slept in it all night.  Yep Barb, she loves her princess bed! JJ

One thing I’ve always wanted to do is have a therapy dog for the elderly and also sick children.  I called TDI (Therapy Dogs International) and she’s starting her basic training this Saturday and we’ll go thru two more classes (about 5 – 6 months of training) and she’ll be a full fledged therapy dog. It wasn’t my intent going in to specifically get a dog for that, but since she basically picked me out and her temperament is so sweet, that’s what we’re going to do.  So as that progresses, I’ll keep you up to date on what she’s doing.  I think that would be a huge positive for Planned Pethood and rescues everywhere!

So, needless to say, she’s just what we all needed!  I can’t thank you all enough for your tremendous time, energy and commitment that you put into all of these animals.  Bless you all and thank you all for doing what you do!  You truly are angels on earth. Oh, and by the way, she’s been sitting on my lap the whole time I’ve been writing this email.  We’re keeping her name as Sunshine, because that’s what she is!

Many animal hugs from us and our little ray of Sunshine! Bridgette

Thor Hi-I just wanted you to know that Thor (formerly King), adopted 9/07, is doing great! I'd really like to thank his foster, Bud, for taking such good care of him. Bud you are one of the nicest people out there! I really love Thor, and he really loves his cardboard boxes. That's him in the picture and the box my computer came in. He also loves paper bags and paper towel tubes. Those are just so fun to chase around. He's a fiend for catnip too, and it's so funny to watch him. Another thing he likes to do it sit on a table and look out the window. Thor's tail actually wags when birds fly by or people walk by with their dogs. He is growing into such a handsome cat (a little over 10 pounds now) and I'm so glad that I get to be his forever home. Thank you again! -Victoria Bradford

Jet

Happy Holiday's Everyone! My name is Jet (Winky), but my owners have their own nickname for me, Oppy. I was adopted over two years ago and this is my third Christmas with them. When I first moved in I was introduced to two cats, Kissums and Sabrina. At first we didn't get along but now we're best friends. I have a wonderful family, a mom, dad, Lindsey and Jessie. My mom has me soiled rotten. She takes me to grandma's to play in the backyard with her dog weekly. When we really behave mom and grandma take us to the park for walks (that's what they think, we're actually looking for deer!). Mom even takes me for bye-bye rides just for fun. I want to thank all of you for giving me a loving home with a family that loves me so much. I never realized the love people can give to an animal as much as they have to me. Thank you, Jet

Niko

Hi everyone at Planned Pethood! Remember me? I'm Niko from 2005. I'm doing great and I'm having wonderful and fulfilled doggie days with my Maneval humans. We play, we run, we fetch, we chase and we roll around together--all my favorite things to do. I'm 2 years old now and still love my family so much. Thank you for allowing my adoption to the Maneval Family, all the way in St Johns Michigan that day in December, 2005. Your friend, Niko

Dee Dee

Hi my name is Dee Dee and I am an almost 2 year old Jack Russell/Puggle Mix adopted by Jeff and Dan of Broadview Heights, Ohio on September 3, 2007. It took me a little adjusting, but I really took to my new owners at my forever home. I missed my foster Mom, Deb, for quite awhile and was looking all around for her. However, as soon as I learned where the cookies were and that Jeff and Dan had dog food, that's all I had to hear! I started eating like a little piggy in no time!

I have made a lot of new puppy friends here in Broadview. One of my favorites is Rocket. People here at the apartment tease me that he's my boyfriend. Jeff and Dan say he's a little Dash Hound, I think he just looks like a big hot dog with feet! But we love to play out in the courtyard together.

I also made a lot of new human friends as well. Two of my favorite people are Katy and Steve. They just live right next door to Jeff & Dan and they LOVE me! They already bought me Christmas gifts! Rawhide chews YUMMY!!! Also they got me a pretty little Christmas sweater to keep me warm since I'm always shivering outside in the cold. In fact, Katy and Steve are thinking of getting a little puppy of their own! I'm so excited because I will have a new little friend to play with! I also get spoiled by my new Grandma Sharyn. She lives in Youngstown so I only see her about a couple times a month. She gives me all kinds of treats!

Another favorite thing is when Dan takes me on special long walks around town! I strut my stuff as I walk down the street proud to be with one of my new forever owners. Jeff likes to torment me and play tug of war with a couple of my toys. What he doesn't know is that I really like to play with his sock better than I do with my toy! It's more fun to take the sock from him and run all around the apartment. I'm so glad that foster Mom Deb, helped me find Jeff & Dan. I really love my new home! Dee Dee

Frankie

I adopted 2 of the most beautiful long-haired, Maine Coon mixed kittens I've ever seen over 3 years ago on July 10, 2004 from your wonderful organization. I was living in Toledo at the time and decided I wanted a kitten for my birthday, so I searched the Toledo Blade and saw an ad. It led me to this website and I was able to see the pictures of Axel and Augustus (now named Frankie). It was truly love at first sight! The day I saw their pictures was the day I brought both of those babies home with me - they were so beautiful, I had to get both!!

I moved back to my hometown of Elyria, OH where both Frankie and Axel found friends with my family and other pets. It was too cute! Very sadly though, Axel grew ill in Nov. of 2005 and on Thanksgiving morning, he passed away at 1 1/2 yrs. old. It was a huge loss for me and for his littermate Frankie, but we soon realized he was always with us and will never be forgotten. I still miss him terribly though.

In any case, Frankie has turned out to be the best cat anyone I know has ever met, especially me. I've turned cat-haters into cat-lovers due to his sweet disposition, his need to be where the action is, and his never-ending playfulness (yes! even at almost 4 years old!). He tells me just what he wants and comes running to just one call of his name - he's so smart! Frankie has a weird, but adorable habit of nuzzling up in your neck and then sucking on your earlobes, but if he can't get to those then the whole face is vulnerable too! He is such a lover and a great cuddler - he will snuggle up to anyone who's willing to share a spot. He's so good around other pets, he's even become friends with my VERY playful 1-year-old Pittbull, Skylar. I guess the best thing I love about my Frankie is how much fun he is. No matter what mood I'm in, that cat will always make me crack a smile. I believe everything happens for a reason and I'm certain that he was always meant to be with me, even if Axel could not. He's been honestly the best, most perfect pet in every possible way for me and I can't thank Planned Pethood enough for allowing me to find the perfect companion! Sincerely-Pamela Grignon

Amber

Hello there! I am Amber and this is my mom Gloria. I am happy here and very comfy. I get along with anyone who comes to visit and I am sad when they leave. I cry when my mom goes away and dad has to comfort me for awhile. I kiss everybody who visits and love them. I play with all my toys and go all over the place with them and chase them around. I am so happy to have a for real home and I know mom and dad are glad to have me!

Hillary We adopted Hillary almost a year ago.  She has three older brothers (humans) and one sister (cat-Nala).  She seems to fit right in.  However, her older brothers think she gets treated better than they do.  She has an entire shelf in the living room full of her toys and her own chair.  We bought new furniture shortly before we adopted her and she took possession of the oversized chair immediately.  Every weekly trip to the grocery store her daddy buys her some new bone or toy and she knows when we come in carrying bags there is always something in there for her.  She also knows when we say we are going to the 'doggy store' she gets to go along and runs to the front door.  She is very spoiled.  She is extremely loveable and listens fairly well.  She knows the basic commands of sit, shake, stay, and drop it and she knows she is not allowed to leave the yard.  When she comes in from outside she knows to sit down to have her feet wiped off.  Her favorite word is squirrel, however I don't think the squirrels who depend on us feeding them every winter are to happy with our new child.  Her daddy takes her to the park almost every day for a 2 mile walk and in the summer we spend almost every weekend at the lake.  She absolutely loves the water.  She has been for rides on our wave runner, which I think she is still up in the air about, but she absolutely loves the pontoon boat.  We are very happy we found her, she is the perfect addition to our family. Charlie

Hi! We had to write and send a picture of our precious Charlie, the 2 1/2 yr. old Lhasa Apso we adopted Feb. 15, 2005. He is the best little guy . His coat was in bad shape when we got him but it is beautiful and full now. He has had lots of problems but we love him. He has allergies which we had him tested for so he eats IVD canned whitefish and potatoes and dry IVD venison and potatoes. He had to have eye surgery for Entropion repair of the lower lid  Oct. 2006. Which really has worked. The vet had told us sometimes it doesn't. He is the most lovable little guy and weighs 20 lbs now. That is a little more than the vet wants him to weigh. He loves to walk and takes his Mom and Dad on a two mile walk everyday which is good for us, too. He loves everyone and especially kids. When my husband is sitting in his chair Charlie is on his lap. We are so fortunate that we came to you and you found him for us. We spend our summers at campground in Northern Michigan and Charlie is every ones friend. Thank you again for Charlie. Jake

Hello, my name is "Jake" and I went home to live with my new person in July.  I don't think I even noticed much when I got in the crate in the car, there was a squeaky in it which I dominated all the way back to Michigan.  When we got home I ran around like crazy, I was so excited to be in my new digs!  I immediately took my new person and my new sister "Gracie" for a nice long walk to get the lay of the land around here.  It's pretty nice.  There are lots of squirrels and rabbits for chasing, lots of grass for laying around in, and plenty of squeaky toys that need to learn who is the boss.  Anyway, I really like it here, it's pretty cozy and Gracie is fun.  I love to chase her at the park while she's chasing the Frisbee.  I also got to take my person to the MSU home opener and see Sparty.  We got to go with the little bitty person (she says it's her nephew) and he's a lot of fun… he and I have an agreement about snacks you see.  Anyway, I'm doing very well, enjoying running my own place and sleeping in my own bed which I share with my new person and sometimes even with Grace.  Whew, I am one lucky dog!  Well, gotta get back to my spot on the sofa for my mid-morning siesta.  Thanks again!

Penny Lane (Janice)
I adopted 8 week old torti, Janice (we changed her name to Penny Lane) just this past Saturday.  I went in to Petsmart to get a goldfish and fell in love with her instead.  My boyfriend and I were holding off on a pet because our house isn't really great for dogs and he thought he was too macho for a kitten, so I just decided to go for it!  I'm happy to say that he fell in love with her the first hour she was home.  They were inseparable!  Penny Lane is the friendliest, most loveable kitten I have ever met.  I have to commend her foster parents for doing such a great job.  It's obvious she was truly loved.  She loves being where everyone is, and she's actually helping me type this email right now!  She's also great with the litter box!  I'm lucky enough to work somewhere that is VERY animal friendly, so I'll be bringing her to work with me until I'm more comfortable leaving her home alone.  She loves traveling to work in her stylish pet carrier, and helping out in the office!  I'm sending along a picture of Penny Lane with the man who swore he was never going to have a cat...proof that life truly is full of surprises, and that the charm of a loving kitten is nearly impossible to resist!!  Thanks so much again for being so friendly and helpful during the adoption process, and for giving me my new best friend! Sincerely-Nichole Lantz

London (Mitchell)

We adopted a kitten that we named Izzy over a year ago. She needed a friend and as we were looking for her friend we found Lexie our black and white cat. The we went to the Planned Pethood website and found a little grey kitten that I just couldn't live without. His name was Mitchell, but we have renamed him London. This is a picture of London and Lexie when he first came home. He has the most beautiful blue eyes and he has not grown a lot. He is so sweet and fun. London loves his new home! Chloe

Dear Planned Pethood,

It's been a year now (September 23, 2006) since we adopted Rosie (formerly Chloe) from an adoptathon at the Andersons in Maumee, so I wanted to give you an update!  We had lost our two elderly dogs, ages 15 and 16 just a couple months before the adoptathon and we were soooo sad.  But one day  I saw Chloe's picture on the internet and she kept weighing on my mind.  I decided to fill out the adoption application and I was a nervous wreck, waiting for Saturday to arrive!     Rosie is the best dog ever and we couldn't be happier to have found her.  She's a busy girl, going on lots of walks and chasing squirrels and birds.  She loves her toys too!  She goes on weekend camping trips and just loves it!   She is so spoiled too, sleeping in our bed since the very beginning.   (She does snore!)   One of her favorite spots is on the back of the couch at the front window.  She can watch everything going on in the yard and let us know if there's anything suspicious! One of her cutest traits is sitting up begging and she begs a lot!!  She is always a joy and we love her dearly.  Thank you Planned Pethood for all that you do for these precious animals, and especially for our Rosie!  The Husted family.

Buddy (David)

I adopted "David", from "the other Karen", cat foster mom. He was one of Diana's kittens. I just wanted to give you an update. He is a fantastic kitten. I have never met such a loving and playful kitten. My youngest son calls him a 'goof-ball'- he loves to chase his tail. He is go wonderful with the boys, I have three. He loves being held and runs to you when he sees the brush. He loves sitting in you lap and getting brushed! He'll turn over for you so you can do his tummy. The boys have named him "Buddy" and it fits. He has settled into our house and now has full run of it. Our only problem, if you can call it that, is he likes to play at night when the boys re trying to sleep. We solved that by taking his collar off at night- it has a bell. His favorite place to nap is his little house or under one of the kids beds. Thank you for allowing us to adopt him. When I described what I was looking for in a kitten and what my family was like, Karen said "David" would fit right in. She was so right! Thanks again-Nicole Raimonde

Katie

We adopted Katie at an adopt a thon in Toledo on July 28,  2001. She was one of 4 little doxie mixes.  She was there with brothers Duke & Tyson and sister Annie, not sure if Annie was there that day.  We fell in love with Katie the minute we saw her and took her home the same day. She is a wonderful dog, good natured and loves everyone.   Here is her photo with her canine family.  Katie was  1 1/2 when we got her and will turn 8 on December 18th.   Thank you for the wonderful work you do.  We tell anyone who is looking to add a pet to their family to check you first. Thanks.

Oreo

Hi Everybody at Planned Pethood! I'm Oreo, I was adopted in May of 2007 to a loving family.  I'm sitting here with my friend Bouncer the greyhound.  He is a rescue too just like his sister Dumplin.  They are both really fast.  I like to watch them run around the backyard.  My new parents even have a turtle that is really fun to watch too.  I have all sorts of toys here but my favorite is to watch the birds in the backyard from my window perch.  My mom thinks its so funny that I sleep on the big dog beds.  Why not?  They are so comfortable.  She thinks I'm a dog drinking out of the dog bowl too.  I do meow, I don't bark, yet.  Well, I have things to do, thought I would tell you what a great home I found. Catch ya later, Oreo

Lance

As we read Lance's story our hearts went out to him and his previous family.  We were inspired by the relationship they shared and wanted to give Lance the opportunity to mend his broken heart and find love again.  From the moment we meet Lance, he captured our hearts with his wonderful personality and amazing smile.  He was everything we had been searching for and so much more.  As parents of five year old triplets we wanted a gentle dog who was good with children.  Lance was a perfect match for our family and we are very grateful that the Planned Pethood staff chose us as his adoptive family.

On Saturday July 28, 2007 we adopted Lance and our lives changed forever.  We were truly impressed by Vicki, Deb and the other staff members who were involved in caring for Lance and helped with the adoption process.

Upon bringing him home, Lance was honored with a party to celebrate this special occasion.  We plan to continue having this celebration each year to remember not only who he is but, how much he means to us.  Lance was somewhat shy at first however, is really starting to embrace all of the attention he is getting here.  He still enjoys a life of leisure most of the time and has found he own private retreat in the corner of our master bedroom.  Lance likes to play ball, go for long walks or just lay back and observe the action.  The triplets even have him playing "tea party" and "house" with them.  Lance continues to charm us on a daily basis with his kisses the way he wags his tail.  What more can we say than adore him.  We feel very blessed to have Lance as part of our family.

Again, Thank you !  Please know what a fabulous difference you make in the lives of others both canine and human. The France Family, Steve, Diane, Macy, Melissa, Michael and Lance

Clark Gable Pugh

Hi !  My name is Clark Gable Pugh and I was recently adopted by my new mommy and daddy in July after being with the wonderful people of Planned Pethood for about 6 months. Mom and Dad and I want to thank them for all the wonderful care that they gave to me while I was with them. My Foster Mom Deb is the best ! !  I miss my dog friends Angus and Daphne and the cats but I really like my new "Forever Home" very very much. My new home is nice.  I have lots of squeaky toys and go for tons of walks everyday and I have met all kinds of new friends. There are big sunny windows that I like to watch the traffic from and a big bed upstairs that I lay in when my parents aren't home. (Don't tell them that they aren't supposed to know).  I have gotten to go to a drive-in movie and all the way to IL to meet one of my new grandmothers.  We even stayed in a hotel on the way.  That was lots of fun. My mommy and daddy say all the time that they don't know how they got along without me and they love me very much.  They even love me when I get them up at 6 am to take me for a walk !  I am supposed to potty but sometimes I just chase bunnies and they still love me.  I have the best "Forever" family.  Thank you not giving up on me and helping me find them. Thanks again for everything Pet People. You are all wonderful ! My mommy is writing a story of my adventures if you would like to follow along http://adventuresofclarkdoglostandfound.blogspot.com/   (See attached file: D Pugh & M McGarrity.jpg) (See attached file: 2007 07 03 Clark and Crate baby web.jpg) Clark Gable Pugh

Montana

Hello to everyone at Planned Pethood,
My name is Montana and I was adopted by Eric and Brecken in February 2007.  This is a picture of me with my cousins, Bruschi and Murphy.  They are both really small, but I love to play with them.  I also love to play with all their small toys.  My new parents and grandparents are wonderful and I love them very much.  My mom even lets me sleep with her in bed!  I have learned many new tricks, like how to "shake hands."  I have been very busy taking walks, playing with my cousins, sharpening up my obedience training, and traveling with my parents.  I want to thank everyone at Planned Pethood, especially my foster parents, Scott and Jennifer, for finding me my forever home.

Thanks,
Montana

Zoe and Myles (Rugby & Izzy)

Rugby (Brown) and Izzy (Multicolored) We adopted Myles (Rugby) in May of 2005 at 8 weeks.  Since then he has become an instant part of our family.  He definitely has his own personality and lets us know if he is unhappy with something.  He will "huff" at us if we are in his way and he needs to get onto the couch.  He loves to play and go for walks.  He does not at all like to go for car rides.  Living in Newark and traveling back to Bowling Green may have scarred him with his idea of car rides.  He usually got sick on the way.  Now that we are in a permanent house and he only goes on short car rides, maybe his idea will change.  Since we are settled and Myles loves to play with other dogs we decided he needed a sibling.

In June of 2007 we adopted Zoe (Izzy) at 9 weeks.  She has been a joy to have around.  She is already starting to develop her own personality and taking after her big brother.  We could not believe how well Myles and Zoe got along.  It took Myles a few days to adapt to this new "thing" that was invading his space but now that he realized she is here for good, he couldn't be happier.  We could not have asked for  two better pets.  We recommend anyone looking for a dog to go to Planned Pethood and rescue a dog rather than buy one for lots of money.

Brady (Emmanuel)

Hi! I wanted to let you know we got Brady (aka Emmanuel) Feb 06 from Planned Pethood and he is doing terrific.  He is enjoying his house
and his brother Max (cat).  He is now 60lbs and very spoiled.  He enjoys running laps in the yard and chasing squirrels.  He also likes to play catch/fetch and has made friends with all the neighborhood dogs.  He is extremely smart and with a little help from our trainer, has learned many commands and can say "hello" and "I love you." Brady is an excellent dog and wonderful addition to our family. Teri Dennis & Melissa Ball

Dakota

Hello! Dakota, here, checking in. I was adopted in January of 2007. I kept my given name because my new people believe it suits me so well. My mom and dad were missing their dog, Max, very much. He had been their beloved pal for sixteen and a half years. They have many pictures of him. They’re starting an archive for me. I cuddle with my mom – a lot. This picture shows what a  happy loving character I am.

Lucky for them and for me, we were all fortunate to know Doy from Planned Pethood. She offered steadfast encouragement and direction on how to find another marvelous pal. When I needed a new home, Connie may have been the one who found me. I can’t even imagine how many dogs she’s rescued. While I was waiting for my forever home, my foster mom, Sue, took excellent care of me. She watched carefully to see who would fit me and made sure I landed in the best place. Barb offered astute and kind understanding, and pegged me right. I wanted to be an only dog, even though my mom would have taken home a whole pack. My mom is still thinking about this. My dad is relieved. At my new house, we thank all of them for preserving my sweet spirit.

Every day, my mom and dad marvel at all the nice manners I have. When you’re the new dog, you have to read a home and try to figure out what the people want. I’m in a good spot because my people are trying just as hard to read me and help me understand what I know. That’s not an easy job for anyone. In countless ways, I came already assembled. I do a great sit. All day I’m told what a good boy I am, because it’s true. I do love to bark and since I‘m so loyal I guard my home and people. When my mom says, “Whisper,” I stop barking and do one of my signature sits. I do try to pull on a leash. When mom says, “Ssst or Uh-oh.” I heel – most of the time. If I don’t, I’m told to just sit, chill and wait.

If I stop pulling, I get to go a little farther. Everyone in our house is proud because I’m becoming a fine representative of my breed and a good neighbor.

The best  characteristic of my breed is that I’m very smart and trainable. All it took to help me adjust was some research on-line about eskies, love, time and patience. Like any adopted dog, I thank my people every day for giving me a good home. My people thank me for being their companion, just as much. There’s a saying among rescuers of dogs: “He/she/we hit the jackpot,” You all did. We all did. Great job, Planned Pethood!

Pepper

Hi everyone, Pepper here with my new family!  I have been living here with my mom PJ for over 6 months now (adopted in January of 2007) and I am just so loving and playful!  I have a big back yard to run and chase the bunnies in, and plenty of toys, balls, and bones to play with and keep me busy!  I love to go for car rides, walks, and people!  I just can't love everyone enough!  I always sleep with my mom at night and keep her company, sometimes I try to get a little to close and almost push her off, but its just me being the cuddle pup I am!  I haven't grown much but my mom thinks I'm just the right size for her!  I am so happy and content here in my new home, thank you!

Cooper (Yoshi)

My name is Cooper (Yoshi).  I was adopted in February by my new family. I was just a puppy then, but now I am 40lbs!   Everyone thought I was a Rottweiller but SURPRISE, my big ears and nose for sniffing things out say something different!  I like to chase a ball in the yard and love to take walks with my big sister. I have a big yard, two cat brothers and lots of kids to play with.  I am very glad Planned Pethood helped me find a forever family. Thank you!  Cooper (Yoshi)

Hondo (Yogi)

Hey guys its Hondo (Yogi) I was adopted on February 21, 2007. I am doing very well and although I am spoiled as ever. I love my new home and all my new friends. The day I can home I had my big sister Erin and her friend Brittany at the front door to welcome me to the family. When I came home there was a cat there as well. I don't think think she was to pleased I was there, but we got over it and we just stay away from each other.  I almost forgot, the best part is, I got a new big bed all to myself, and boy is it comfy. Well I'm sure you have other things to do so take care of everyone and we'll try to keep you updated.  Hondo (Yogi)

Olivia

Dear Planned Pethood,

It's Olivia! (Jack Russell Terrier/Beagle Mix adopted at the Petsmart in Holland December 17th 2006 4 months old at the time now 7 months.) Thank you for helping me find my way to a great home!

Sorry it took so long but my sister, Michelle, had to wait for our mom to get a new computer and camera just so you guys could see my face. Also, of course I am worth it! Well I am having a great time here in my new home.   There is also Summer, the bird,  me and her are pals.  She's my little sister although I kind of get bored when she can't come out of her cage to actually play with me.  Michelle said she would have a heart attack and die if she came out and saw my size!  I graduated from puppy class and turned 6 months old about the same time.  I did very well.  This summer I over heard my family's conversation about sending me to Petsmart Pets Hotel; all the girls in my puppy class were barking about it.  You get special cots and T.V and Kongs and puppy safe ice cream.  You can see for yourself if you go on www.petsmart.com and look for Pets Hotel. You doggie people will understand, after all, that it is only for us doggies, not you '' two legged people" or that name my  mom said something with an "H'' hmmm ... hmmm.. Well I have to go soak my paws they're killing me from all this typing and eating those Zen Puppy Treats  "Peace" that are made for hyper dog--it's supposed to calm them down.  Well gotta tell mom to spell check my work, my paws are in the way again.  Bow Wow 4 Now ~Olivia~ (and Michelle)

Ellie (Kelly)

Hi its me Ellie (I was called Kelly by my foster mom) , I was adopted February 2007 by my forever mom, I had had parvo, and had been very sick.  Just to let you know I am doing very well now in my new home Last time at the vet I weighed 65 pounds!.  I have been to obedience class and if there was an award for most improved in class I would have gotten it!.  I am now enrolled in a Canine Good Citizen Class so I can go with my mom to all kinds of places!!  Thank you all for giving me the chance to be the good happy loving dog I can be!!  PS. My human brother adopted a puppy who is now named Izzy  we all get along very well and run and play together (even though she is sooo much smaller then I am) ....Thank you!!

Buddy (Demitri)

Hi there, my name is Buddy...and I was adopted by Michael and Lynda on March 31 2007. My previous name was Demitri, but my new Mom wanted me named after her Dad's nickname, Buddy:-) All day long I play with my new best friend Ebony. Ebony is a  2 yr. old rescued black Lab that the family already had. Ebony is teaching me the ropes and I am learning VERY quickly. In fact, it has been a LONG time since I had an accident in the house  and I think I have this outside thing down pat!!!;-) I sleep in Mom and Dad's room with Ebony and I was already sleeping through the night after my 2nd night in the house!! I know that when I get in that room, I crawl in my tent, and it is sleep time, NO playing for me!! When Dad gets me up in the morning to do my 'business', he unzips my tent and I am SO lazy, I just slither out!! It always makes Dad laugh every morning:-)

I received all my shots, so I was able to go for my first walk around the block, but that was a bit too long for me and Mom had to carry me the rest of the way.....poor Mom! I can now go UP the steps, but I am TERRIFIED to come down them! Again, poor Mom and Dad have to carry my 21 lbs. down the steps..yipes!! My legs will get bigger and I will be able to feel more comfortable to make it down the steps.

Everyone loves me and I love everyone!! Even the neighbors who live behind me come to greet me at the fence and bring me Mom and Dad approved treats (lol). I can't even begin to tell you HOW happy I am in my new home and how THANKFUL I am to Planned Pethood for finding me the RIGHT family to adopt ME!! I would LOVE to hear how my brothers and sisters are doing...write in and tell us!! Again, THANK YOU THANK YOU Planned Pethood!! Love xxoo, Buddy , Michael and Lynda Wisniewski

Violet

Hi, I am Violet (yes, my forever mom loved the name and didn't want to change it) and I was adopted in February 2007 from the adoption event at PetSmart in Rossford and boy oh boy am I growing!  My forever mom and dad can't believe that I am growing so fast.  I love my new home!  I enjoy chasing...oops...I mean playing with my cat friend, Sherman.  I love to go outside and especially love to play catch with my ball.  And I have lots and lots of energy!  I have visited our cottage on the lake and I love to run and play in the yard with my dog friends and kids.  I've got to go for walks and mom says I am getting pretty good at walking without yanking her arm out of the socket!  I am going to school in about a month so I can learn, learn, learn!  I am so thankful for my forever family and they are thankful to have me to love too!  Thanks Planned Pethood for helping me find the perfect home!

Noodle (Morey)

We adopted More, now Noodle (cocker spaniel) in Jan. 2007 at a Planned Pethood adoption day at the PetSmart in Rossford.  He is doing great and we have lots of fun with him. As you can see, he loves to curl up our son. He also loves to curl up with Dottie, our other adopted Planned Pethood baby. They love to play together all the time and are the best of friends. He does great with our cats and only chases them a little bit. When we first brought him home, he wasn't quite housebroken yet but he is doing much better now. We have him on a potty schedule and he hasn't had any accidents in the house for quite awhile.

He is very affectionate and loves lots of attention. He is very gentle and great with the kids. He is happy and healthy and we love him to bits. We are so glad we were given the opportunity to add him to our family. Thank you. The Faust family

Ziggy

WE ADOPTED ZIGGY IN JUNE 2005.  HE IS AMAZING; ALL HE WANTS TO DO IS PLEASE HIS OWNERS.  HE HAS A BIG YARD TO RUN & PLAY IN WITH HIS BUDDIES SYRI (CHOCOLATE LAB) & LIBBY (YELLOW LAB).  I DON’T REMEMBER THE NAME OF THE FOSTER FAMILY; I THINK THEY WERE FROM OAK HARBOR.  I JUST WANT THEM TO KNOW THAT ZIGGY IS DOING GREAT. HE IS A WONDERFUL ADDITION TO OUR FAMILY.  HE HAS GONE TO FLORIDA WITH US THE LAST TWO YEARS AND HE HAS A FRIEND IN FLORIDA NAMED MOLLY.  HE LOVES TO RIDE IN THE CAR; HE IS GREAT WITH KIDS, HE SLEEPS IN BED WITH US.  WE JUST LOVE HIM!!!!  WE ALSO SUPPORT LOTS OF ANIMAL RESCUE GROUPS WITH OUR DONATIONS.  I ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO DO THAT, SO PLACES LIKE PLANNED PETHOOD CAN DO MORE OF THE GOOD WORK THAT THEY DO.  THANKS TO PLANNED PETHOOD, YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!

THANKS THE MAXWELL FAMILY

Tinkerbelle (Ivana)

We adopted Tinkerbelle one year ago this week on March 25th when she was 9 weeks old, her name then was Ivana. Since then she has overcome her shyness and is now a very friendly puppy. She has 3 wonderful brother, Tyler who is 12, Brandon who is 7, and Alex who is 9 months old. She was very good when Alex came home from the hospital and is very protective of his. They play together everyday with Tinkerbelle's toys. She loves to please her daddy and waits for him to come home. She knows when the bus comes and is waiting when the kids get off the bus for Brandon to come home from school. She always likes to lay down and cuddle with Tyler for long periods of time. She is a wonderful watch dog and protects us all, especially when daddy has to work because he works 24 hour shifts. She likes to play fetch with us all. She still will run if you let her, but she is getting much better. Daddy is teaching her new tricks everyday. We are very happy to have her and plan on adopting another dog soon from Planned Pethood. Thank you so much Planned Pethood for our wonderful member of our family. Pete, Joyce Tyler, Brandon and Alex Scarborough

Missy

My Name is Missy. My foster Mom, now Aunt Judy, named me this and my forever mom thought it was perfect! Mom loves to call me prissy Missy, after all, I am such a lady. I came to Planned Pethood from a breeder and my life will never be the same. I am so happy now! My aunt Judy wanted to be sure I went to the right forever home, and BOY! did she do a wonderful job. At first when my new mommy came to pick me up. I was pretty scared. I kept hiding from her and I didn't want her near me. She was ever so patient with me and just gave me lots of love and affection, and now the two of us are inseparable. I even have a brother named Kramer, he is a cocker spaniel just like me--the darker one. Of course I don't think he is quite as pretty as me , although he can't help it that he is a boy and I am a lady! I do love him though-- he is a keeper. He watches over me especially when new people come over to our house. I hide behind him and he makes sure the people will not harm me in any way. I am so appreciative of my new family, and my Aunt Judy. I especially want to thank Planned Pethood for rescuing me from what could have been a disaster! Wow I am blessed in so many ways, Thanks again! LOVE MISSY!!

Dainty

Dear Planned Pethood,
Thank you for placing us with our forever family.  My parents found me,  Sapphie (formerly known as Josie or Dainty), at an adoption event in Ann Arbor May of 2006.  When I saw them, I jumped into their arms for a hug and told them it was about time they came to get me! Being the princess of the house is wonderful, but a bit lonely at times, so my parents adopted a brother for me as a birthday present in December. Together, my brother Aidan (formerly known as Domino II) and I founded the Ann Arbor Chapter of the Canine Wrestling Federation and the Canines Against Cats Association.  I'm president of both! Our parents give us lots of attention and our grandparents give us lots of toys.  We love to play in our big backyard and talk to our dog friends. Thanks again! Sapphie and Aidan-Ann Arbor, MI

Mckenzi and Boo

Hello from Mckenzi (left) and Boo (right) we were adopted in 2005 as pups. We are all grown up now and loving our new home. We get along pretty good, we have ours days just like siblings. I (Mckenzi) am happiest playing with an old blanket or just being loved and my brother loves his tennis balls he could play catch all day if you let him. We have both been to training class although sometimes you cant tell, my mom might sign me for agility classes this spring, I already know how to jump thru a hoop and wave. My brother might learn Frisbee. Good Bye for now and thank you Planned Pethood for rescuing us so we could find a loving home like this one.  Sincerely  Mckenzi & Boo

My name use to be Tillie.  My new owners call me Maggie.  I'm a lovable Beagle/Terrier Mix who loves everyone and am very easy going.  I was adopted in Perrysburg, Ohio at an adoptathon at PetSmart on January 27, 2007.  This picture shows me with my new humans, Mark and Kate Scanlan.  I love them so much and I know they love me too.  The day after I was adopted they took me on a long car ride to Cherry Hill, New Jersey were we live now.  I got to see so much of the country - I never realized the world was so big!  I love my new home because I live in an apartment complex with lots of other dogs and humans who I can make friends with and I have a big back yard I share with all of them.  Since I've been here I've learned to Sit, Lay Down, Come and Stay.  I'm still working on Heel, but my mom says I'll get it soon.  Thank you so much for finding me my forever family.  Love, Maggie

Trina
My name is Madison Grace (black & white ShihTzu) formerly known as Trina. I was adopted on Sept. 23, 2006. I am one of six fur babies in this house. My parents were very sad when Gracie Rose died in August of HGE. When my mom saw my picture on Planned Pethood's Pet Finder site, she told my dad about me. He came to adopt me, and I am living happily ever after. We did have quite a scare. My new vet thought I had inoperable cancer, and I thought my mom would never stop crying. It just turned out to be a very bad infection. Just when I was getting used to my new home, mom told me it was time to go to our other house in Myrtle Beach, SC for the winter. She said there would be no snow or ice there. This sounded good to me. Although I love my fur baby brothers and sisters, I love my dad most of all. Can you believe we have fenced yards and pet doors at both of my new homes. I run in and out all day long. We are allowed to sleep anyplace we want to, but I usually snuggle against my dad. Well, I just wanted you to know that I am a happy girl, and this was worth waiting for.

Starr & Herbie

In January. '06 I adopted Starr.  She was scared to death, and very, very
shy, but when I went to meet her she came right to me, sat on my foot, leaned on my leg and looked up at me and that was it. Starr is such a little lady, & a joy in my life.  She comes with me everywhere I can bring her, she's my little shadow.  She's been invited to test for becoming a Therapy Dog, so we've started working on that.  Starr is very playful and silly, but she also has a very gentle, sweet, serene spirit that people respond to.

Herbie (was Drake) came into my life in April of '06.  Through my adoption of Starr I'd
had such a good experience I started volunteering for Planned Pethood.  One day they said they desperately needed fosters.  I hadn't taken in fosters before because my elderly German Shepherd had some health problems (partial paralysis), but Drake was only 20lbs, so I figured he wouldn't stress out my dog too much.  I hadn't even seen his picture, but was determined to foster the little guy.   My smallest dog is 60lb Starr, so I never thought I'd want to keep a  20lb dog... FAMOUS LAST WORDS!   On day 4 of the 5 I'd agreed to foster him I look over to see him curled up between the old man's paws, giving him kisses as
my old dog licked him on the head.  As I watched, this little dog went and got a toy, and brought it back to Joker, gently pushing it back and forth with him.  That was it, he was never leaving us!  He got the name Herbie because he's
a complete Love Bug.  He's never met a stranger and brings such happiness and laughter into our home I can't begin to put it into words.  A friend put it perfectly, saying "He is one MERRY little dude!"  That's my Herbie!

Both Herbie and Starr have been going with me to Planned Pethood events to show people out there the quality of dog that one can find in a rescue, and I have to say they are wonderful ambassadors! Herbie's full of kisses, always and
for everyone. Starr is always gentle and friendly with new people.  Starr loves her little brother, plays with him all the time and can fit his whole head in her mouth.  Herbie is forever giving her kisses, which she tolerates in true "big sister with a pesty little brother" fashion (as the picture shows). These two have brought immeasurable joy and love to my home, which has helped me through what turned out to be a ROUGH year for me personally. THANK YOU PLANNED PETHOOD for bringing us together. Mary, Starr & Herbie

Syd

Woof! Hello there everyone! You may remember me as Syd or Obsidian. I was the 5 year old black lab mix who sadly lost my old owner then had a bad luck streak with some not so nice people. Then I was whisked away to Planned Pethood for rescue so I could have a chance at a new and better life. Well, I got my Christmas wish this year! I was adopted in early December 2006 by the Slomski's. My new mom and dad just got married and adopted me into their new loving family! They spoil me rotten and I even have a Christmas stocking above the fireplace and presents under the tree. I couldn't have been a luckier pup! Thanks to Planned Pethood for giving me the chance to find a great forever home and thanks to my wonderful fosters! I hope everyone has a wonderful Merry Christmas and a happy new year...I know I will! Love Syd

Izzy

Hi my name is Izzy. I was adopted by my mom and dad in October. They took me home when I was only eight weeks old.  I have had to go to the vet a couple of times, but mom always take me if there is ever a question. I have a 13 year old brother named Mister. We love to play and cuddle. Mister doesn't have any claws so I had to go to the vet and get declawed as well. Mom called and checked on me all the time to make sure I was ok. I have my own princess bed and a lot of toys.  I sleep cuddled up with my mom and brother all night. I love my parents and my new brother.   Mom is looking to get me a little sister this weekend! I am very happy my parents found me. I am very happy, playful, and I love my new home.
Thanks Planned Pethood!

Carly

Hi! It’s Carly here! I was adopted 2 years ago after being found on the street, put into the Springfield Shelter, adopted and returned at least once before I was rescued by Planned Pethood. When my mom finally adopted me I was just downright tired and blue, I got in the back seat, plopped down and slept all the way home to Dayton. At first, when I got to my new home, I was really naughty and ate most of the blinds in the house – so I could see outside better of course – I even locked myself in the bathroom and tried to run away from home – I could jump right through any screen in the house! Those were the days!

Then, my mom sent me to this really nice lady who trained me to heel, sit, come, stay and more stuff like that. I feel really smart – and I am! I can even let people know when I need something – for instance, if I need to go outside. I have all sorts of toys and a big back yard to play in. I have some friends and they come over or we go to the park to play. I sure have changed. Now, I never do anything naughty, I’m the center of attention, I run around and wag my tail all the time, I am such a happy girl! My mom works at home and during the day I need to be quiet – and I am - I can’t believe it! Now, I’m the sweetest and smartest girl in the whole world – I know this because my mom told me so!

JoJo

I always loved cats (and will admit to being obsessed with them!), but I never had one growing up, as my parents never wanted animals in the house.  They grew up on farms and believed animals belonged outside.  I finally moved out and dated a guy who was allergic to cats.  After our relationship ended, I was lonely and decided to foster cats.  I wanted to eventually adopt a cat, but had to find the right one.  I also wanted to adopt a young adult because adults usually have a harder time getting adopted. My first foster eventually ended up in a barn home, but my second foster became my best friend.

In February, I got a call from Karen.  She said she had a friendly kitty who was about one and a half and who would like to go home with me, and his name was Jo Jo.  He was found with two other cats and didn't have food, water, or heat.  I picked up Jo Jo, and he was very vocal about not liking the car ride home, but when I took him out of the carrier and saw him, it was love at first sight.  He immediately wanted me to rub his belly, and he started his usual routine of running to the door and sitting near it whenever I'd come home.  I felt sad about having to give up the guy I fell in love with, but didn't think I could give him the attention he needed and loved him enough to be willing to give him the best home possible.  I told Karen I love him and wish I could keep him, but don't know if I can give him the attention he needs.  She said cats will adjust to your routine, and I ended up adopting him.

My parents visited my place and said my apartment smelled, but they could see I needed a little companion, and though my dad's not a cat person, he seemed to like playing with him.  I ended up moving back at home when I transferred to a different school.  They did NOT want Jo Jo to come with me, but understood I couldn't give up my best friend and said they would be willing to TRY having him here.  At first, they weren't happy, but it's been about three months, and they play with him, scratch his ears, talk to him, laugh when he acts dog-like, call him "Junior," and say, "See?  He agrees!" when he happens to meow after my mom tells me stuff like, "You just need to have confidence!"  They fell in love with him.  He's now healthy and far from the thin, smelly cat I met nine months ago, but still fell in love with.  Let's just say Jo Jo and I are happy.

Herman

A Herman update with pictures. My daddy finally figured out how to work the computer and send these pictures to you. My life here has been great. I get all kinds of treats for being good. I've had three yellow buddy glow balls to play with, but they don't last to long for I puncture them with my sharp teeth. They had to be thrown away. Now I have one orange and one green buddy glow ball. I don't know how long they will last. I'm really rough on stuffed toys so I don't get them anymore. Mom did get me a couple stuffed toys the other week, but they only lasted a little while --- I mean minutes really. I guess I'll have to wait awhile until I out grow my roughness. Dad & Mom has tons of pictures of me along other family members. I'm sure glad they adopted me and brought me to their home. They have me spoiled rotten and I try to keep them young. When they say it's time to go to bed I run to my chair and pretend I don't want to go up stairs to bed. They just pick me up and carry me up stairs to bed. So I get a good nights sleep. I hope other doggies gets good homes like this one too. I learned how to watch for squirrels up in the trees and rabbits in the yard and deer at the bird feeders and not bark at them. Mom & dad says I'm a good boy and wouldn't give me up for the world. I hope you like these pictures. My leg has healed real good and you would not even know that I had a broken leg. Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving.  Love Herman

Maxine and Avery

Hello, I adopted Kali (formerly Maxine), the black and white kitty, in October of 2005, and then adopted Chloe (formerly Avery), the orange tiger, in April of 2006, and they have been the light of my life ever since. They are so great to come home to, and always keep me laughing. Kali wasn't too sure about Chloe at first, but now they get along perfectly. I want to thank Planned Pethood for helping me find these two
wonderful pets - my life wouldn't be the same without them! ~Joanna Preest

Chico and Bentley

Hi, Planned Parenthood!  We would just like to drop you a note to update you on our babies Coady (formerly known as Chico) and Bentley.
We adopted them approximately two years ago and couldn't be happier with our boys.  They keep us entertained for hours as they romp around
the house chasing each other.  Snuggling and purring are two of their favorite pass times (eating, too!), and it's rare to wake-up in the morning without one of them snuggled right up next to us.  We are ridiculously happy with our Planned Pethood experience and can't thank you enough for bringing those two wonderful cats into our lives! -JP and Ashley

Greer

Sorry I haven't updated you on Greer, who is now our little Westie, "JOEY". My wife Patricia, and my son Jeff, adopted him in Toledo, back in May to help jog your memory. He has put on weight and now weights 18 pounds, and his coat is thick and pretty....we even taped up  his left ear, which was folded over, and it now stands up and he looks great. We had adopted a Rottweiler, named Roxy, just prior to Joey coming to live with us, and she has been like a mother to Joey. They get along great, sleep together and are a ball to watch! I want to thank you again for the work you do with animals. Especially Molly the foster mom--bless you and everyone else who tries to help these little ones/ I would take them all if I could. With sincerest thanks, Dan Blackburn

Reggie

Hello everyone at Planned Pethood.

I was looking on your site the other day and found the happily ever after page and thought I would write you about our success story.  We adopted Reggie about a month ago and couldn't be happier about it.  He is the best puppy ever, i don't even know how to react sometimes.  We have only had two little accidents in the house which is so much more than I had expected, so the potty training thing was pretty much down right from the start.  When we got him he had kennel cough, whip worm and a little ear infection, but we soon got that all taken care of and now he's as good as new( even though he didn't like the medicine very much:)  Reggies favorite thing is our big bean bag, he loves to just run and nose dive himself in it.  He is
