Today is the first anniversary of my adoption by the Scotts. I'm a very happy doggie and Dave and Andrea love me very much. Thank you for finding my "forever family".
I've attached a few of my best photos from the past year, including me in my 4th of July finery, which I kept on about 10 minutes.
:-) I hope you are doing well.
Love, Star
(Andrea Scott)

We adopted (Charlie) Harlie in December. He is our hope and bright star to a very tragic year. Our 14 year lab had a stroke and went to heaven on Ground Hog's Day. My only son was diagnosed with two brain tumors (glioblastoma) and went to heaven on Memorial Day.
Harlie is a Weimaraner/Lab. We adopted him when he was 8 months old. His foster mom already had him house trained and was teaching him basic commands. He is a very happy, sweet, and smart boy. (Also would like to add handsome.) He lightens up our life each and every day. He loves going to Poco's Playhouse Doggy Day Care 3-4 times a week, plays frisbee, and his latest trick is jumping through a hoop. He enjoys going on walks, especially through the woods with his Daddy. He knows all his basic commands and will be going for an evaluation to enter intermediate obedience training class later in April. Harlie reminded his mom how much fun it is to play in the snow. He likes going on play dates and entertaining other dogs in his backyard. We are also currently looking for Track Training class for Harlie, as he loves what he was bred for - tracking. We are finding there are not many around the area, but have not given up. One of his activities is we hide treats and he will track for them.
Planned Pethood not only finds good homes for dogs, but they also provide support and advise you if you have a question. For instance, I wanted to know of a good Doggie Day Care facility close to my house and they provided with a name. What a great organization for both our canine friends and canine owners. Thank you Planned Pethood.
Proud Parents of Harlie,
Gail & George Sype

Lucy is the most fun-loving puppy anyone could ever ask for! She never leaves my side. Lucy has been potty trained since a week after I adopted her. She is a very fast learner and loves learning new tricks. She loves to be outside running around, seeing what she can find. Lucy has gotten to swim this summer already and loves to every time she gets the chance. There is nothing she loves more than going on a car ride and having her play dates with our family's dogs. I would like to thank everyone from Planned Pethood that gave me the honor of adopting my baby girl. She is a very cherished part of our family and we couldn't love her anymore than she loves us.

Missy's former owner threatened to euthanize this neglected dog if Planned Pethood did not immediately drive out to an outlying rural town and pick up this little pooch. We were shocked at the severely emaciated dog we met and she was at least 50 percent under her ideal weight. This poor dog was nothing but bones, skin, and what remained of her hair, much of which fell out due to an untreated skin condition from being caged all day in her own excrement.
Missy is doing very well these days. She gained back all of her weight and is now about 20 pounds and her health is almost perfect. She recently traveled for the first time to the groomer and she walked out of the place looking positively radiant: shiny coat, clipped nails, and a new hairdo.
Missy has made a great deal of progress in socialization as well. She was previously locked in a cage 23 hours a day, so she was a bit clueless in interactions with non-abusive people, as well as other dogs. While she is still a little jumpy, she now walks right up and seeks out affection when she needs it and she rarely reacts aggressively toward the other dogs.
"Happily Ever After" is indeed the best way to sum up Missy's new life.
(We have included before and after pictures of Missy.)

Hi Jean and Kathy,
I don't have Jean's direct email and I wanted to send an update on Otis (Formerly Wilson). Everything has been going really well with him! He likes to chew on things, but then again, what puppy doesn't? We're working on breaking him of that habit. He has been, and will continue to be, well socialized with all of the other dogs within our family. At this point, I'd have to say that he's probably met at least 8 other dogs and he gets along great with the young children within the family too. Like you said, he definitely has quite a bit of energy and we do our best to burn him out by taking him out on long walks daily and playing with him quite a bit. Luckily, as of late, we've had some great Spring weather to do it in. As far as house-training goes, we were both definitely impressed with how far along he was and while he did pee in the house a couple of times, we saw it more as a "marking of his territory" than anything. When my wife and I wake up in the morning, he already knows to run to the sliding door we have in the back of our house to go out and do his business, which definitely makes the mornings easier on us.
We were visited by Joanna about a week after the adoption and she couldn't stop raving about how playful and fun he was. She kept telling us that she wanted to take him home for herself. Also, when we took him to the vet for his final Parvo shot, the vet, as well as one of the other people in the waiting room, were raving over how cute he was and loved how his ears fold over. The lady in the waiting room even took a photo of him. Overall, we'd like to say thank you for all that you have done for Otis (and other puppies). We appreciate you letting us take him home on that Saturday that we came out to the PetSmart in Ohio!
I have attached a couple of photos of him for you to see. He's already getting quite big!
Thanks again,
Mark and Dana Peznowski

Dear Barb, Ronda, and everyone at Planned Pethood,
What a difference a year makes! The year did not start off too well. Although I cannot remember, I know I was in a bad accident and hurt my eye, several teeth, my spine and had a lot of cuts and bruises. But, I found my way to the angels from Planned Pethood and you helped me feel better. Then I got to stay with Ronda while waiting to find my home. I want to let you know that because of all of you, I am now home with my family. I have a warm house, a big backyard, lots of balls and toys to play with and even my very own bed to sleep on. My humans love and adore me and play with me and take me for walks and give me lots of treats. I am never lonely as I have my brother, Toby, and my two "sisters" Aria and Josey to chase around (they are cats, after all, so they must be chased!). And now, I also have a human sister, Noel, which they tell me will play with me when she gets bigger. For now, Toby and I have the new responsibility of protecting her, which we take very seriously.
All in all, life is really good. Whenever I have a bad dream about what happened to me before, my Mom or Dad (and sometimes, Toby) come and comfort me and remind me that I should only have happy dreams now. Mostly, I do! I have no more pain and my days are filled with love.
So, thank you for helping me to find my way home! This Christmas, I hope that all the dogs (and cats, too) that you care for, find their way home too.
Love, Benny (aka Brownie)

Hi Everyone,
Digger is doing great. We finished our 6 week Beginner Obedience class with Toledo Kennel Club and then did a 6 week Novice Class. He did really well and was the only dog in either class to always be wagging his tail or pause in the middle of a "down" command to see if I wouldn't rather just rub his tummy. Also, counter surfing seems to have disappeared.
The only commands that are truly important to me are "Come" and "Stay." We still have a lot of work to do on "come," until I feel he is really solid. Right now, he believes it is an optional command, sort of like telling a kid to clean their room. Too many competing distractions...squirrels, horses, racing the neighbor's dog along the fence.
Mary and I are always commenting on what a "Saint" Digger really is. Every morning, before he even has his eyes open, Daisy is jumping on him, grabbing him by the neck, just being a little pest. Digger either ignores it or plays right back. That continues most of the day.
I love to watch those two in the yard. They are nearly inseparable and always moving at break-neck speed. Digger is looking really good, very fit, nice weight. All that running! He figured out the pet door operation quickly and uses them all the time. He is often in the backyard when I get home, either barking at the pony or just resting on the porch.
I'm also pleased with how quickly he came to trust us. I recall how unsure he was about being picked up to ride in the truck. Now he can't wait because he knows we're going to the park. Mary says he still gets a funny look on his face when I pick him up. I'm sure I have a funny look too...the look that precedes a hernia! (He's no Jack Russell).
Paul

Just a quick update on Tuesday - she has worked out wonderfully. I bet you guys thought she would never find a home. She just needed some one-on-one care and love and she has really settled in very nicely. She is a real joy to have. Attached is a picture from her graduation.
Thanks
Steve

We had been thinking of adopting a dog for a while, but all the sites we looked at didn't seem to grab our attention. We had a few requirements. We are getting older and preferred an older dog. Due to disability, the dog could not be a "jumper". Over the winter of 2009, we started seeing a listing for a dog named Jelly. She was 8 years old and listed as housebroken, which was a plus, even if there were a few transition accidents. Hopefully, she already knew that inside the house was not the right place to conduct business.
We kept looking at the dogs offered in our area and kept coming back to Jelly, to the point that the question of the day was, "when can we meet our dog?" After submitting our application to Planned Pethood and going to an adoption clinic to meet her, we found out that apparently there was a niche in our home that she was supposed to slide in to all this time!
She loves to get up in the morning and inspect the yard for the possible overnight invader. After breakfast, she likes to protect the yard from marauding squirrels around the bird feeder and talk to other dogs in the neighboring yards. Late in the afternoon, she enjoys a car ride and checking on a few people to see if they need a pet dog.
She is a fast learner. After we eat our dinner, she picks up her bowl and moves it into the dining room for her dinner. As the evening draws to a close, she checks to make sure we're in bed before curling up nearby, in case anyone has a need to scratch a furry head or a warm wet kiss. It's a tough job, but we think she's up to the task!

Hi everyone! My name is Noah. My mom and dad adopted me from Planned Pethood over 4 years ago. I'm 8 now, but am told I don't act like it.
:)
If you're wondering what I am, I'm half Chihuahua and half Mini Pinscher. Interesting, aren't I? Mom says I'm very handsome.
I had a bad experience before mom came and got me. My first dad got old and couldn't take care of me anymore, so his family just took me to the pound! I was TERRIIFIED and I admit, although it wasn't nice of me, I tried to bite a lot of people. I was really just scared. I didn't mean to hurt anybody. I wasn't really friendly to my mom the first time she came to visit me either. I was still pretty afraid, but you know what?...she kept coming back to visit me at my foster home. She came back like 4 times! That's when I started to see that she really loved me and wasn't going to hurt me, so I started to trust her. Before you knew it, I had a new home with a brother dog named Jozer and a brother cat named Bongo. Jozer was pretty old and I was sad when he passed away last summer, but he was almost 17! So, guess that's pretty good, huh?
I still can be a bit crabby, mom says, but I'm really just a softie at heart. When I get crabby, mom just tells me to be nice and I (usually) listen.
:)
Thanks Planned Pethood for rescuing me! I'm sure, since I wasn't on my best behavior, who knows what may have happened to me! Now, even though my mom calls me crabby Noah, I know she really loves me anyway.
Love,
Noah

Hello everyone! I'm Lucy, or you can call me Lucy-goose. Silly, I know, but I like it.
:)
I'm a senior citizen - I'm 10! I admit, I have some things that don't work as well as they used to. My hips are bit sore, so I don't move as fast as I used to and I don't hear very good, but you know what?...I'm doing great anyway! I now have 2 dog brothers, Noah and Barnaby, and a cat brother. My brother, Barnaby, takes really good care of me and I like to snuggle with my brother cat, Bongo. He came from Save a Pet. He has lived with mom and dad for a long time. He's older than me! Some very, very bad people hurt him long ago so now he is blind and has no eyes, but know what?...you should see how he gets around the house! I'm impressed! He's the best brother cat ever though.
I wasn't treated very well at my previous home and I felt pretty alone and unloved, but I sure don't now! I'm never really alone and mom and dad sure love me! Pretty much anyone that meets me wants to fuss on me and that's so much fun! My mom likes to pick me up and give me a lot of kisses on my face. She tells me I have a beautiful face and that makes me feel pretty good! I kiss her a lot too. I sleep right next to her (under the covers of course), and I even have some new sweaters! A pretty pink one and a pretty blue one with a sparkly snowflake on it! Best of all, I got a new bed! I LOVE my bed! I curl up in it all the time for my naps. (I'm an old gal, so I need my naps).
My mom and dad love me so much and mom fusses on me so much that I'm a pretty happy camper now. I hope that all the dogs and cats can find moms and dads that love them too!
Thank you, Planned Pethood, and Mike and Kim, for taking such good care of me until my mom could come get me!!
Love,
Lucy
P.S. I'm sending 2 photos of me! One of just me and one with my brother Bongo. He's pretty cool, for a cat.
:)
(Cathy Kautz)

Hello! My name is Barnaby, but you can call me Mr. Butt. I like my nickname. :)
My mom gave it to me cause when I get excited and happy, I wiggle it SO hard and I back into people butt first! I know it's silly, but it's fun and it makes everyone laugh. I smile a lot cause I'm a happy guy. I pretty much love everybody! I have a brother dog, a sister dog, and a brother cat. My dog siblings are Noah and Lucy and they came from Planned Pethood too! My brother cat, Bongo, came from Save a Pet. He's blind, but he sure is a good buddy to me!
After my mom brought me home, we started going to school! I loved school! It was a school that taught me how to be a therapy dog and now I go visit elderly people in nursing homes with my mom, my "Aunt Sara", and her dog, my cousin Lily. It sure is fun! They all sure do seem to like when we visit (they tease me about how chubby I am though, but that's ok. They still give me treats now and then, which mom says I don't need.)
:)
Thanks, Planned Pethood, for taking care of me until my mom could come and find me!
Love,
Barnaby

We adopted Lilley in November of 2009 to join our family of 6 cats and Chester our 5 year old Chihuahua (all 7 are rescues). We never had a puppy before and knew that we had some work before us. Lilley has surprised us both! Lilley took to potty training very well...actually, she rings the bell on the back door when she is ready to go outside. She can sit, stay, leave it, lay down, shake...she does it all. We are still working with her on the leash. (She loves to pull when we go on walks.)
She hasn't met a toy that could withstand her strong teeth, so we are constantly looking for new toys. The Kong has been the most successful. Lilley and Chester are typical brother and sister. They play long enough to tire Chester out...then she just annoys him, but Chester is always a gentleman. He lets Lilley do as she pleases. When she is not picking on Chester, she is sniffing out one of the cats. She is so curious when it comes to her feline sisters and just can't seem to understand why they run from her.
There is never a dull moment with her around. Lilley has been a joy and we are so happy to have her. We have attached some pictures that we think Cori, her foster mommy, would love to see. Please thank Cori and all of your foster families for all that they do.
Your Friends,
Dan and April Markiewitz
We adopted Abbie from you in December and she has been a joy. She is the perfect dog for us, as we are new dog owners. She is so well behaved. I am amazed at her. She is such a delight, loves to go for her daily walks and chases a ball in our backyard. She has made friends with some of the neighbor dogs and has made a special place in my elderly father's heart.
I have included a picture of her so you can see how she is doing. Since she was with you as a puppy as well, I was wondering if you had a picture of her from back then, maybe still on Petfinder, as I know it keeps all the old files (I'm not sure if you used it back then or not). She was born 12/17/01 and was called Corrine when she was brought to you at 3 months old. Her ID number on the folder I was given is 103109.lr and her tag number is 0684, if that helps. I am just curious as to what she looked like as a puppy.
Karen
We are so happy with our new puppy. After having to put our German Shepherd down after 8 1/2 years, we thought it would be a long time before we ever got another dog. As soon as we saw his sweet little face, we knew Max was "the one". Thanks to his foster mom, Kathy Lorah, Max already knows how to sit, get in his crate and goes on his potty pads. He loves to play! He also loves running through the yard as fast as he can. He scoops up snow along the way and crunches it. He is so adorable and is bringing so much happiness to our lives already. Thank you for our new buddy!
Lou and Larry Pratt

Forest came to us as a small puppy. (I say small because he is now a very large puppy. His legs are a foot long and his body is longer than that.) He came to us house trained. It is easy to know when he has finished (I need a sign from him because he runs around the fenced in back yard a top speed) because he goes to the back door and sits in his princely posture. He learns very quickly when we give him a puppy treat as a reward. He also knows where he can and cannot go. He stays off all furniture except Eddie's bed. (He likes to sleep across Eddie's legs.) He is an absolute gentleman when I take him with me to run my morning errands. He sits on the passenger seat looking like he owns the world. If he gets bored, he lays down with his chin on the parking brake lever for a minute or two. He doesn't attempt to get out of the car when I do, until he recognizes our house, then he starts getting excited. Besides puppy treats, his favorite activity is having his chest scratched.

Hello Planned Pethood. We adopted Kiera on October 23, 2009. She has been a wonderful addition to our family. We could not imagine not having her here.. My daughter Taylor and her play all the time. Her new name is Isabella, but we call her "Izzie." She loves to go for car rides, being outdoors, walks, or just staying at home and watching television with the family. Thank you to her foster mom Nikki for taking all the time with us and introducing her to our family. She and Taylor are partners in crime -- they go every place together :) She loves to play in the leaves with Taylor and all the neighbor kids. Thank you again. We are so excited for the snow to come because we think she will have a fun time playing outside with Taylor. Thanks again Planned Pethood.
Gail, Michelle, Nick and Taylor Elwell
P.S. Tell all my friends I hope they find a good home soon:) Isabella

We have re-named Willow to Maizey Blue. (She's a Michigan dog!) She is getting along great with everyone. I had forgotten how much work a puppy is, just like a baby! Thank you again, Planned Pethood, for all your help. Soon Maizey will meet the goats and the chickens!

My husband and I had been looking for a buddy for our 1 year old Golden Retriever named Bailey. When I saw Amy's picture (we renamed her Leia) on the Planned Pethood website, I knew she was the one! Sure enough, she and Bailey have become best buds... They are constantly playing and then resting together, often cuddling up with one-another. We absolutely adore Leia, and are thrilled that she is a part of our family. She has come so far in just a couple months. When she first came into our house, she cried and scratched at the door whenever she was outside without us. Now, she loves to go out and play and trusts that we will be there when she is ready to come back in. She is incredibly loyal and is so affectionate, especially when she is tired. We are so thankful to Planned Pethood for the good that they do. This is the first time we have adopted a rescue dog, and I can tell you that we will continue to do so in the future. It is such an amazing feeling knowing you are helping such a great cause by providing a happy home for an animal that has not had it so easy in the past. Many thanks to Planned Pethood!
John and Lindsay Findling

We adopted Sparky (originally Bunny) from PPI at the Anderson's in Maumee eight years ago. Sparky enjoys long walks in the park, chasing squirrels, and begging for daily treats from our neighbors.

Hi there!
I am Emme (right) and I am Boo (left). We are two little schipperkes (pronounced - skipper-key) and as far as we know we aren't sisters; but we did come from the same puppy mill where we were breeders for about three years. Our mom found us on Petfinder when she was looking to adopt her own dogs instead of dog sitting for everyone else's. Having had schipperkes before, she thought she knew what she was in for but as mill dogs we brought a whole new set of challenges. With a lot of love and patience we have taken to our new life in Indianapolis quite well...so well, she even says we are 'spoiled'! Can you believe that?! But we know she is kidding because we get lots of hugs everyday! Thank you Planned Pethood (and our foster mom Tammi) for taking us in and finding us a forever home. We couldn't be more happy!!
Hugs!
Emme and Boo (formerly Ebony)

I met Klara on August 16,2009. It was a beautiful sunny day and just by luck Klara was brought to the pet adoption that day. I had already applied for an older dog but my friend saw Klara and suggested I inquire about her. Well, Klara was only eight months old and looked as if she had some Weimeriner in her. I had always heard that breed was very active. Years ago I had a ten acre horse farm which was always great for puppies, especially active ones. Well, now I live in the city so it's a little different. There is a good size back yard and Klara and I play early in the morning and again in the late afternoon. She goes to the different barns with me when I teach horseback riding. She is even listening well enough for me to allow her to run free at the barn where my equine is boarded. In the seven weeks I have had Klara she has really learned so much. But most of all Klara has learned I won't leave her. I will be back and she is here to stay. Thank you Planned Pethood!
Denise Peksa
P.S. WOOF! WOOF! Klara Peksa
My boyfriend and I adopted Buddy the first weekend of February just this year. He was fostered by Mary. We could not have asked for a better dog. He is definitely my boyfriend's dog though as he follows him EVERYWHERE he goes. He even sleeps on the floor right next to his side of the bed. Buddy absolutely loves going on car rides and on long walks and his new favorite hobby is camping. He is such a good boy when we are at the camp grounds. My boyfriend and I take Buddy out to his dad's house where he is allowed to run around the back yard. Just this past August, we got Buddy a new friend/little brother. His name is Gunner and he is a Lab/Rott mix. Buddy loves showing Gunner the ropes and enjoys playing outside and wrestling with him. I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that Buddy is doing great!! We're looking forward to this winter and playing outside in the snow :o)
Sincerely, Sara and Derek (Buddy and Gunner too)
Hi! I'm Oliver and I live with a new family that loves me a lot. Besides my parents, I have a human big brother and a doggy sister named Beans. Beans was a Planned Pethood rescue, too, and she's showing me the ropes in my new house. We like to play in the backyard and go for long walks in the park. I love my new family and hope that all the other dogs find homes that make them as happy as me. I guess the cats, too.

I adopted Rosie the Riveter (nee Peggy) in September of 2008
when she was a tiny kitten. She made herself at home immediately, and while she had to endure some hissing, Rosie soon became her new big brother Caesar's best friend. Rosie has helped Caesar blossom from skittish to confident cat in spite of all her ambushing. There is nothing cuter than seeing the them wrestle and groom each other.
Rosie alternates between napping under the sun, talking to everyone (including birds), playing, and cuddling, and thankfully she has one cat and two humans to indulge her! I love having Rosie greet me at the door and hearing her loud purr as she snuggles in at the foot of the bed.
Rosie has passed the 1-year mark and is now about 10 pounds, but she still has her giant bat-ears and is ever the playful, loving kitty who brings so much joy to my life. Thank you to Nancy Fisher, Rosie's foster mom, and the rest of Planned Pethood, for getting Rosie a wonderful start in life.

Maui and Loki are coming up on their one year anniversary with us (June 28th). They are both doing wonderfully. Maui LOVES napping in a laundry basket full of clean warm clothes. She also has an affinity for pocket change. My fiance and I pulled the love seat away from the wall (as we were cleaning for a Superbowl party) and Maui had stashed a pile of change behind it. Apparently she's saving for something, but we haven't figured out what yet. Loki loves chasing a twisty tie around the apartment. He has also taken to lying in the bath tub and watching the facet drip just a bit every night. Loki has taken more to me (I had picked him out) and Maui has taken more to my fiance (he had picked her out) but they love us both. We cannot imagine our lives without Loki and Maui. Thank you Planned Pethood for all you do and in giving us two of the best cats in the world!

We went to the PPI bday bash, but we didn't see you, so I'll send you a picture of Maynard. He is doing very well! Chad walks him everyday for at least three miles. They also go to the park with friends and car rides. Everyone who meets him loves him! He gets many compliments (Maynard is proving to be a "chick magnet" So Chad's guy friends call and ask if Chad AND Maynard would like to go to the park etc) He walks very well on the leash now and he is up to 76 pounds even with all the exercise he gets. All in all, he is VERY spoiled and loved. Chad adores his dog and Maynard adores him! It was a great match! I can't thank you enough! I'm sending you pics of all three dogs my children and I have adopted thru your program. THANK YOU!
Mary Schoen

Noah was one of the senior dogs that was resued from the pound and I adopted him from your organization at Christmas time. He was estimated at 10 years old and I was told that it was really hard to adopt out older dogs. All I have to say is that he should be the poster dog for why to adopt a senior dog. He is the greatest dog! Noah, now named Noki, is playful, loyal, kind and gentle. I couldn't have asked for a better companion. I'm sure that many times, organizations such as yours see many sad stories come through your door but this one had a very happy ending and I wanted to share a bit of it with you. Noki is doing wonderfully! He has adjusted very well in such a short time. He gets along great with my cat (the cat greets him at the door before me, she just adores him.) He has really shown what a loyal, wonderful, loving companion that he is. He is such a fantastic dog and I am so greatful to have him in my life. He has really opened up and relaxed. My family and even the vet has mentioned that he looks younger each time they see him. He loves to go on daily walks and spend every moment he can with "his people." You can be sure that he is getting the best of everything and deserves every bit of it. :) Thank you for doing what you do. Not many people could handle the things that you and the volunteers deal with everyday. I'm sure that many new owners of fantastic adopted dogs are as greatful as I am.
Hi I am Samantha and I adopted Buffy (I kept the name her foster gave her) almost 4 years ago from Planned Pethood. I just wanted to give you an update of what an amazing cat she is and how I am so grateful everyday that I have her. I must confess she is full of personality and not your normal cat. She is quite the talker and will let you know at night when it is time for her treats. I taught her to sit pretty and she fetches her toys like a dog only more graceful. Buffy loves to be snuggled and for me to carry her around the house being the princess that she is she demands my attention by head butts and kisses. I want to thank Planned Pethood for finding my soul mate in a cat form I couldn't imagine our lives without her. I attached some pictures although I have more pictures of her than most people have of their children. Thanks again!
Samantha (Mommy), Justin(Daddy) and Buffy(Furbaby)
Hi my name is Jag, but dad calls me Tilt. I was adopted by my mom and dad almost a month ago and I am so happy! My best friends are a 2 year old silky cocker named Cross, and Pheobe a 3 year old long haired cat. I was a birthday present for a little girl named Regan and she loves me. I am full of life and trouble. I had a rough start but I am doing GREAT and have had no more health problems. I love to play, sunbath and get into EVERYTHING! My foster mom, Linda, was sad to see me go but I am loved and cared for very much here. Thanks to everyone at Planned Pethood I have a great home and a long healthy life ahead of me!
Love Always, ~ Jag (AKA Tilt)
This check is in honor of Annie's 5th adoption day anniversary (May 4). She is still the best and sweetest little girl and loves to go for walks. She hadn't had any blood work done, so when she had her heartworm test in April, our vet drew a Chem 12 and CBC and everything came back fine. Since she'll be 10 yrs old in Sept., we wanted to be sure. Her only problem is her teeth are worn down (from having puppies too often) and she has some grass allergy in later summer. She is such a joy!! We're so grateful to you for letting us have her.
Sincerely, Dwight, Esther and Annie Mauer
Hello to everyone at Planned Pethood. I wrote to you last year to give you an update about Lily and her new life with my daughter Kristie. This picture is a follow-up to that letter. I took a picture of both of them for a family photo project and couldn't stop laughing when I saw the result. You know how they say married people start to look like each other after years together. Well apparently that's true with pets and their owners. In this case, they have the same smile! Just thought I'd share it with all of you. Maybe it'll bring a smile to you too! Thanks again for Lily,
Cheryl
I wanted to let you know that we adopted Tess only 2 weeks ago. She has already stolen our hearts. She loves to be outside with our Doberman Alex and when Alex isn't looking she steals her tennis ball. Then the game is on. We also have two cats. Tess wasn't sure about them when she arrived but now they snuggle and play together. She has pretty much taken over the house. I would like to thank Planned Pethood for saving one of the greatest dogs in the world. She is a perfect fit for us. Her foster mom Theresa was great. She made the adoption process a happy one and she took good care of Tess while she was waiting for a furever home. We wouldn't trade Tess for anything. Thanks Again! Debbie & Bob Redmond
WOODSTOCK is the BEST DOG IN THE WORLD! Everyday just more love comes from him and back to him from us. He is such a smart dog...my husband Dennis and Woodstock are so much fun to watch when they play. Woodstock is a cuddler and still loves to sleep with us in the bed which most of the time he has most of the bed ,we sleep hanging on the edge at times which would be a funny sight! Woodstock is so relaxed and really is comfortable in his surroundings.....and YES he goes every where with us still....My husband has taken him to a few appointments with him while working...Woodstock loves being with him in the truck......also Woodstock has taken me to work and picked me up when my husband need the car....Woodstock gets so excited to see you when you haven't been with him for a few hours. I have never seen such a loving dog who is so happy....he even smiles my husband says....especially when he's in the car with us. He has made friends with our neighbors WHO ALSO ADORE HIM! Everyone who sees him says he's such a beautiful dog ...and HE is! Woodstock did go in our pool but on a raft.....he was unsure because his feet were not touching anything while in water so he just stayed on raft....so we are going to Dennis's cousin's house this year who lives in the country and has a pond and a dog and we are going to see how he likes the water and playing with the other dog. He does play with the neighbors dog and they get along good. As we say HE IS THE BEST DOG IN THE WORLD! We don't know how we ever managed with out him being a part of us.....Woodstock is everything to us, we love him sooooooooooo much! When we go to the store ...we always walk out with something for Woodstock....yes He is spoiled with us, can't help it, he is Great! Again Thank his adopted moms Sylvia and Barb they were great moms to him when he was younger. Tell them Woodstock is doing wonderful and is GREAT! We are so happy that there is a foundation that has people who Really care about animals and can find them loving homes like YOU have.....we have been very grateful to have Woodstock become an addition to our family....he means the world to us. THANKS!

Hello,
My name is Jayden and I was adopted 2 years ago, by my mom and papa. I love them very much, along with my little brother Joey! He's little, I steal his treats from him! :) I love to bring my tennis balls to my parents and they will throw them in the air and I will catch them. I especially love nite-nite time where I can snuggle with my papa in the BIG bed, but then I have to get down and lay on my comfy bed on the floor next to my mom. I am such a good girl I dont need to be in a crate anymore. I am so glad my parents adopted me! I am sooo spoiled! Just look at me...aren't I cute?! :)
From,
Jayden
Clancey was adopted at Ann Arbor's Petco, he is six months old, we went in to look at cat towers -if you catch it right sometimes they are on clearance - and there he was. He's an extremley lovable cat. We have two others, Henry is a good play buddy, I am hoping he loses some weight, lol and it took Milton who pouted for about two weeks, some time to get used to him and finally he's okay about him. Clancey purrs so loudly and loves to sleep and steal my pillow! He attacks everything in the house that moves. He's such a great addition to our family! We can't imagine our home without him, he's fit in so well, and is such a lovable kitten! Thank you Planned Pethood! Emily and Nick
We adopted Brandy from PPI in March 2008. She was staying at the foster home of Denise Pheils. The minute I saw her face on the PPI website I knew that she was "my dog". Unlike other rescue dogs that we have had, we quickly learned what happens when a dog is raised in a puppy mill...they want to find a "cage" where they can hide in your home, they stand up & do their business on the floor and they can be afraid of their own shadow. She has really come a long way in this past year and is loved by the entire family. From the moment we arrived home with Brandy she adopted our teenage son, Jeff. She walked right up to him and started wagging her tail. To this day she gets excited whenever he walks through the door. She also has really taken a shine to men, even though she's supposed to be "my dog". We've let her take her time getting to know the family and being around people. We have a bed and breakfast and last spring I started bringing her outside to our nightly campfires for 5-10 minutes a day. She quickly adapted and stayed out 20-30 minutes and then an hour. She loves making her rounds to each guest for them to tell her how beautiful she is, pet her and offer her a treat if they have one. This past Christmas my husband bought me the book, "Ceasar's Way" from the TV show Dog Whisperer. Wow...this is the "how to" manual for dogs. I used to take her for walks and if another dog came up she was scared. After following the techniques in the book, she is now the 'Queen of the Road' and runs to the door every time I mention going outside or walk. She even got to know the black lab next door and likes to run in our yard with her. I could not be happier with this adoption and often recommend that B&B guests wanting a dog to contact Planned Pethood.
My name used to be Betsy (for about 4 days) but my name is Daisy now. Actually, my full name is "Daisy Girl Pugh" but I also answer to "Pretty Princess" because that's what my mom and dad say I am. I have been with my mom and dad and brother, Clark Gable, for almost a year now. Deb N was my foster mom and she took good care of me after I had my surgery. Clark was adopted by mom and dad about 9 months before I was. They adopted me because one night mom swears she heard Clark asking her and dad for a friend. Dad isn't so sure about that but when he saw me he couldn't send me back because I was so cute. I have a wonderful home with lots of toys to chew, a brother to play with, a mom and dad who love me and spoil me, I have made lots of new friends and have lots of soft places to sleep. We take walks and I get to play in the snow with my brother. Mom says the best part of her day is when she comes home and I come in from a walk with dad and Clark and race to the living room and make a 3 foot leap into her lap. Any other time I seem to need "help" getting up on the couch. Thanks for everything PPI ! I wouldn't have this great home without your help.

Oh hi! My name is Diesel. I used to be one of Mona's R puppies -Rover! I was adopted by Andy & Christina in September of 2008. I'm now 6 months old and weighing in at about 70 pounds. My likes include digging in the snow (which I found out is edible), playing ball with my dad, giving hugs and chewing my mommy's shoes. My dislikes are those furry little thing they call cats and I call game fowl, getting my feet touched and the word No. The vet says I'm part Weimaraner, part horse ... just kidding ... I'm Weimaraner/Black Lab. If I had my way, I'd create the olympic sport of couch jumping. I love my new home and family and can't wait to get a doggy swimming pool this summer. My parents say I have been a great addition to the family and they look forward to seeing how big I'll get. Time to go attack a cat! Love, Diesel

Hi, I'm Kirby, formerly Keifer when I was adopted. Just got finished opening up a bunch of wrapped stuff under a tree, I don't know what that's all about, but this stuff is great. Kirby is gonna be 3 in April, and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect friend. Those big green eyes still dance whenever a squeek toy or bone is mentioned. The best thing is in the summer, we go roller skating on an open path where he can really take off (he pulls me the whole way). He's the big cheez in his neighborhood always out and about. He knows where his other dog friends live and doesn't let me forget it. Kirby is sociable and would love to have a live in partner in crime, and someday he will. Right now he's best friends with every dog in the neighborhood as well as visitors. Even if someone broke in, he'd probably lick em to death. Thanks again for choosing me to be Kirbys big brother for life, keep up the great work.
We adopted Kiki through Petsmart in Spring Meadows at an adoption event. She's adorable. She didn't do well in the window and even though we came looking for a long haired kitten, we fell in love with KiKi. She sure loves it IN the Christmas tree :) She's doing very well and gets along great with the other dogs and loves to play. We can't say enough good things about how her foster mom, Shannon, raised her, thank you.

We adopted Eddie Haskell in May 2007 and what joy he has brought to our lives. He lives up to his namesake and is quite the charmer! Dad was not too sure his personality would fit in with the family, but it didn't take long for him to be convinced. Eddie won his heart over with licks and snuggles. Eddie is quite the active pooch and needed someone to keep him company. Chauncey (Pugsley) fit the bill. We took him as a foster dog, but as you can see, Eddie took him under his wing and we knew we couldn't let him go! Thanks Planned Pethood for letting us fill our lives with loveable pooches!
Love,
Kim and Mike Brooks
Sweet Bea
Adopted Parents: Greg & Lori Scalf and their children, Robert & Eryn
Adopted February 23, 2008
Foster Parents: Kim & Michael Brooks
Sweet Bea came to us with an eye infection (for which she will be permanently treated), 6 teeth pulled and we knew that socially she would be taking baby steps (incl. bathroom, engaging with other dogs, and snuggling). The long-term plan for her was uncertain. Well........after 10 months Sweet Bea is a healthy, pretty-active, loving pug!!!! :) Within the first week she appeared to be "happy to be with her kind" as she snuggled with our other pugs, Rock & Isabelle. They immediately recognized her special needs and viewed her as "the elder." While both love to play, they also love to snuggle and are pure lap dogs, and they were gentle with her. She modeled their behavior when she would hear the words, "Time to go outside," "Time to come in," "Who wants some petting?" and "Who wants a treat?" (her favorite----hahaha). Sweet Bea was making strides those first 4 months, and in July we were asked to take a pug puppy---Ruby. Once Ruby came in to the mix Sweet Bea made even bigger strides, as it appeared as if she was happy to be a mommy again! She took Ruby under her wing, they snuggle together, and she treats her as her own. Ruby loves it! All 4 pugs pal around together and can NOT be separated---even in so much as going outside. If one uses the bathroom, they ALL have to go outside together. While still a little timid, Sweet Bea takes most treats from our hands and when we come home from work her tail wags and she jumps around in circles! She is WONDERFUL!
I thought we wold drop you a quick note and let you know how Gus is getting on. With the holidays almost over he's kind of wiping his brow and saying 'jeez I'm glad that's over.' He tends to like his peace and quiet and with our family that kind of time is few and far between. Christmas day consisted of 10 people, 4 dogs and a cat. He kept running to the basement for a little solitude in the family room. Other than that he is doing really good, however we still have a few potty issues. Penny absolutely adores him and he really loves his nap time with Dad. Morning snuggle with coffee is good too, he and Penny sit next to Don and snuggle under an afghan while he watches the news.

I wanted to update you on the status of Cliff Claven who is now living in Bedford, MA. You will be happy to know that Cliff had adjusted well to his new home. He took no time at all to become a loved member of our family and even likes our cat, Ella. There was a point, early on, where Cliff's dry eyes were giving him trouble, but Cliff is now in tip top physical condition and as healthy and happy as they come. We can't remember our lives without him and, even though he snores something awful, we couldn't have chosen a more perfect Dog. We recently took him "back" to Cheers, on Boston Common, for a drink (water of course) and a photo opportunity. Needless to say that Cliff is a crowd pleaser. He was approached by a whole host of new friends and even gave kisses to some strangers. He will definitely be making the trip again soon, as he loved the Duck Pond at the Common. We wanted to thank everyone involved for helping us adopt this beautiful addition to our family. You all proved invaluable in helping us bring Cliffy home and did so out of the kindness of your hearts, and for that we will be forever grateful. You are all a blessed network for animals in need and you make the world a better place by following your hearts. God bless you all.
Anthony, Jennie, Ella and Cliff
Greetings from Albuquerque. I moved with Fiona to New Mexico. We adopted her in March, I believe, and moved in July so it was a lot to ask of little Fiona. She has done very well with the changes. I've been home 100% of the time for 2 months which helps. She gets walks twice a day with the other two dogs. She is now eating a single source protein and carbohydrate dog food to help with allergies. Fiona's personality continues to show more and more. If I am taking a nap , she will come and roust me out of bed by burrowing and snorting. She is so cute. Fiona has turned out to be pretty smart. She has learned to listen to me. With lots of praise she has become very reliably housebroken. Thank you again for rescuing her.

My name is Lillie. I was named Dream before I was adopted as a puppy by my family in April 2008. I have a canine brother, three canine sisters, two human sisters and a mom and dad. I fit right in this family! My canine brother and sisters really welcomed me into the family. I have learned a lot from them. We have lots of fun playing in the back yard. I really love it when my family plays fetch with me! I could play for hours! I was born deaf, so my mom taught me sign language. That is how I know what she wants me to do. She taught me the signs for yes, sit, lie down, eat, outside, dead, roll over, come, go, speak, turn around and ball. When she wants to get my attention, she stomps on the floor and when I feel the vibration, I turn to watch what sign she gives me. My mom says I am really smart because I caught onto sign language fast! I sometimes get to go to my mom's office. As you can see from my pictures, I work hard there and often have to take naps! Thanks Planned Pethood and my foster moms, Barb & Sylvia, for finding me a family!
Love, Lillie
Brynn
Hi it's me Brynn!! I wanted to let you know that I love my new home. I'm having a great time exploring my new house and yard. I'm trying to make friends with Dingo, Riley and Cricket, but those cats just seem to not want to run and play with me. Mom took me to the vet today and I got microchipped. I don't know what that means, but she told me that it was ok and that it was for my own good. Everyone loved me at the vets office. I'm not surprised, after all who could resist my beautiful eyes and adorable face. They took pictures of me to put in their album in the lobby. I'm famous now! There are lots of cows, horses and other livestock in the town where I live. Neighbors down our driveway have donkeys. They make funny noises. Today I heard roosters crowing! These are all new, fun sounds. My new sister, Brittany, and I have similar names. We call her "Britt". She has a lot of shoes and some of them have some fun fleece/wooly stuff on them. Mom told Brittany she shouldn't leave them out because I sometimes get those wooly ones mixed up with some of my fleece/wooly toys. I love her so much and enjoy snuggling up in her lap. I really enjoy the ice cube treats that I get here. They are tasty and a lot of fun. I love to lick and eat them. Sometimes they try to get away from me and slide across the floor so I have to run and chase them. Everyone laughs when I hop around trying to catch them. They think everything I do is so cute... but that's me... cute and cuddly!
I just wanted to let you know how very happy I am with Willow. She has become such a companion to me and just loves my grand-children. My husband passed away only 3 weeks after we got her, but I know he was happy that I got another dog. I go home every day at lunch and play with her. She either sleeps on my couch or on my bed. She's always happy to see me come home and watches out the window when I leave. The only thing I've seen her chew up is her own toys. Currently my daughter and 17 month old grand-daughter are living with me and Willow absolutely loves the baby. She plays with her and is extremely tolerant. Willow is always at our side when we give the baby her bath as Willow constantly licks the water on Madeline's skin. She follows Madeline around like a "little mother". Willow still thinks she is leading when I take her out to walk and we need to work on that. She loves to go in the car as she knows we go to my other daughter's house and she gets to play with her two dogs. Thank you, Planned Pethood. She's so much company for me.
Hello my name is Logan, my new mommy and daddy call me Lucky Logan and Little Man. The first day in my new home mommy gave me my very own blanket to sleep on; I carry my blanket all over the house so I can be warm and cozy in every room. I also like to carry around my toy bunny, sometimes I cuddle with it too. I have a big sister, her name is Kayla and we like to run and wrestle. My big sister has taught me a lot of new tricks; my favorite trick is starring up at the treats with big brown eyes so mommy gives us one (I learned where those are real quick). I have also learned to shake and lay down; not so good at sitting pretty yet my balance is still a little off, I tend to topple. I think I am pretty lucky; my new family loves me and gives me lots of attention. Merry Christmas everyone I hope you all find loving homes like I did!
When my mom's cat died, she was so broken hearted she said she wasn't going to adopt another. She said no one could take the place of Duchess (who was also a rescue cat). We respected her wishes and she knew if she changed her mind, we could find her the right cat. Several months went by and one day she told me she was considering adopting a cat after all. I was on the phone immediately and found out there was an all 4 declawed cat named Maize at PPI's cat adoption center at Petsmart/Spring Meadows. She was found outside as a stray - someone had tossed her out the door without a single claw to protect herself! Unfortunately Maize loathed other cats, which made her more difficult to adopt out and almost impossible to find a foster home for. My mom thought she seemed quite nice so we took her home. When she first left her carrier, she explored every square foot of my mom's house, apparently making sure there were no other cats lurking about. Once she was satisfied it was safe, she jumped up on the bed and took a nice long well-deserved nap, and made herself completely at home from then on. My mom and Maize (now named Cinder) have become the very best of friends. Cinder is quite the talker (I suspect she's part Burmese or Siamese) and is great company for my mom. My mom adores her, and is always sharing stories about things she's done and how much happiness Cinder has brought to her life. Thanks to Planned Pethood, a formerly abandoned kittie now has a great home, and my mom has a best friend again.

Hi. Its been awhile since I was adopted. My name is Penelope Ann, Penny for short. Some may know me as Peggy Sue. I met my new family in March and it was instant love. I knew I would be home soon. The next day couldn't come fast enough to finally be adopted and there they were, Mommas & Daddas. We got home and went to a pet shop and I got TOYS and treats. Then I got a hamburger, boy I can get use to this! We went home and met my Grandpa, but before we went in I got out of the car so fast that my leash was not on and my mommy was chasing me and finally caught me. I admit it I was a little scared, mommy was to!! I met grandpa and he has a doggy also and little beagle, Abby. She's ok. We then went home and boy I really met the rest of my family, my daddy's brother and his family. I guess they are ok, they are not really doggy people. My grandma was there to, she cool, I get butt rubbings whenever I want. I have really come to love my new home, I get to sleep in bed right between mommas and daddas and boy the heating blanket, oh that's nice. I like to snuggle also. It was a little rough in the early months but my home is the best. Mommy tries to take pictures of me but the flash scares me so she keeps telling me that its butt shots, sleeping shots or sneak up on shots. I just got my picture taken with Santa so that was fun. I just hope he remembers everything. The picture that mommas is putting in is me with my bunny. She got me! Well that's about it for my story. I may have had a rough puppyhood but the rest is the best
Hi...I'm Isabella (with the pretty red collar and gorgeous wavy hair). My name used to be Tracy when I was tiny. And this is Rasputin, he's my new brother. We came home together. We weren't related before (as you can tell...he's sooo big), but now we're family, side by side and sharing everything. I was a lil skittish at first cause Raz is older and such an excitable boy. He slobbers all over me when we play and messes up my hair. But really he's a good big brother watching over me and letting me do whatever I want ....even take his treats right out of his mouth. We wrestle and chase each other in the yard til we need a big drink. Sometimes he gets on my nerves and I have to tell him to go lay down though.....or TACKLE HIM....whew, he can wear a girl out. We love to go for walks and now that I have all my shots we can go EVERYWHERE!!! I also like to watch the fish in the big tank, and the tv. Oh, and so far I can sit good...and sit up pretty...and lay down...and roll over...I'm so smart! We had company over the other day and they kept saying how well behaved we are, Raz and I. She even had a treat in her pocket! Hope she comes back.
Hi..I'm Rasputin (with the masculine blue collar and muscular physique!) I used to be called Scout for a while. I've been all over it seems but it sure does feel good to finally be home. We have no kids living here so we get alllll the attention my sister and I. Her name is Isabella and she's tougher than she looks....now, she was kinda girly at first, but she's younger.... although she still won't stay out of my mouth! We have a blast together...we have a huge yard wth all kinds of birds and squirrels and even a couple cats stop by now and then. Come to think of it....we don't see many squirrels or cats anymore hmmm. Anyway, we have these little short trees that grow balls, it's so cool. Except when you bite through the ball it's kinda juicy and seedy and not so good tastin....so you have to be real careful. Bella won't touch them at all. She prefers sticks....and the peel off the trees. I can also do all those things Bella can......AND, I get to go to school starting Tuesday (whatever that means)...but I like the word "go" so it can't be all bad. Besides, I'm such a good dog (I know cause that's what my people say all the time) I know it'll be a breeze.
Our people said to tell you it's really tough to get a good face shot of two black pups that's not blurry, but they'll keep tryin!
Thanks so much,
Greg and Jackie Mercer
Hello everyone!
I'm Gertie, formerly known as Dollar. I am doing fantastic in my new home!! I was adopted at an event in June 2008. I am definitely living the life of luxury now. No one knows where I came from, but wherever it was I was allowed to get on furniture, sleep in the bed at night, and already knew a handful of tricks. I am still able to do these things, so I am very happy. In fact, when my parents get up in the morning, I don't usually even come out from under the covers for at least another 2 hours!!! People tried to say I was 2 or 3 years old, but my mom thinks I'm at least 5 or 6. I get along fine with my brother Henry (cat), unless he tries to play with my tail. Then I just give him a warning yip and he stops. Sometimes, we're even caught sleeping together. Life is grand now! My mom says I'm the best thing that's ever happened to our family. Thank you Planned Pethood!!

Hi everyone! It's me Lil' Lindsay; although I am not too little anymore! This is my big sister, Razzie who is also a Planned Pethood alumnus. We are always playing some game; either tug of war, tag, or hide and go seek. I think Razzie has a hard time keeping up with me sometimes, but she tries her best. I love my big backyard and I am finally getting used to the big dog next door. I even bark at him to let him know that I am not afraid. My mom and dad are so nice to me. They have taken me for walks and I am getting real good on the leash. My human sister, Sierra, lets me sleep with her every night. She even gave me my own pillow in her bed. When my other human sister, Sam, is over, they fight over who gets to cuddle with me. I am so loved! I really like chewing on rawhide chew sticks. Razzie taught me how to hold them, so now I don't have to have mom or dad hold them for me. I don't have too many accidents anymore. I have learned to tell my human family that I have to go outside. They jump right up and go outside with me. Then, I get a biscuit each time I successfully go outside and go potty. Shhh...Sometimes I pretend to have to go out just so I can get a biscuit. Razzie taught me that too! I have too many toys to name them all, but I really love anything that squeaks. It's fun to make a lot of noise.
I have to say thank you so much Aunt Mona for finding me this wonderful home. I really can't wait to see you again! Also, thanks to Lindsay for rescuing me. I have a lot to live up to, having her name and all. I promise to keep in touch and if you are ever in the neighborhood, please stop by. Don't worry about me though, because my big sister Razzie is always going to watch out for me.

Hi! My name is Jada, formerly Pop by my foster parents. I was adopted at 9 wks by my current family and am now 5 1/2 months old. My mom wanted a big dog and she got her wish with me, I'm already 50 lbs! I love my parents sooo much! They were patient with my potty training and have taught me so many things. I now know how to sit, stay, speak, shake, lay down, and am learning how to crawl! I also get to search for squirrels when my mommy takes me for our daily hour walk. One of these days I'll catch one! I really am a spoiled puppy though...I tend to snore every time I sleep, but my parents still love to pet me and give me kisses every day! Thank you for finding me my family, I love them very much!- Jada
