Planned Pethood needs help caring for these dogs. Deidra, the black border collie mixed puppy came down with parvo shortly after she came into out care. She spent several days at a local vet's office receiving treatment. Many other rescues won't even treat a dog that comes down with parvo and will euthanize it.

Jasper was rescued from a local dog pound and is being treated for heartworm. The fact that Jasper was rescued out of the pound given his larger size is a miracle. Many who adopt are looking for small dogs and the larger ones hardly ever make it out. Now add on that his large size means the treatment will cost us even more more.

Please help us pay for this. We simply cannot afford these extra expenses to care for the animals without your loving help. Donate now on line here or send a check to Planned Pethood, P.O. Box 350908, Toledo, OH 43635-0908.

We'll list you on this website as an angel sponsor for these two dogs. Thank you in advance for your help!

This is Candee

Second Chance Club Sponsor Candee was sponsored for a Second Chance at life thanks to our good friends Michael Cunningham and his best friend Joe (Alumni of Planned Pethood).  You can sponsor a dog or cat for a second chance too. Become a member of the Second Chance Club today...just

Candee is a very small  3 year old, 14.8 pound Beagle that was rescued from a local dog pound. Candee was turned into the pound because the kids were not closing the door. Candee and pal Shaggy (also available for adoption below) were getting out and the family kept getting cited by the city. So they turned both into the dog pound to meet their fate--good or bad. Candee is extremely cute and really small, she is adorable! Candee is housebroken we are told and used to being in a home with young children and other dogs. Here is a note from Candee...

Hi Everyone!  My name is Candee and foster mom says I'm as sweet as any candy!  I'm a pretty good girl who loves to be with her people!  I'm dainty and petite.  I just got "fixed" last week and was pretty scared when I came here.  I shook a lot and foster mom was so nice to us, she put us in the guest bedroom until we felt better about coming out and joining in the family here.  I warmed up to foster mom pretty quickly after she got down on the floor with me and petted me and told me it was going to be OK and she would find me the best home she could.  I'm a smart little girl and can be a little bossy.  I get a little whiney too when I want back in the house or foster mom is someplace I can't get to.  I just want to be with my people!  I like to play with stuffed toys too!  I love going outside into the back yard.  It's a fenced in yard so mom doesn't worry about us too much.  She comes out too and  makes sure we are ok.  The "we" is my pal Shaggy who was taken to the pound with me and saved too. He's very nice as well! But back to me--at night I love to curl up next to mom on the big bed. When I get cold I snuggle under the blanket to get warm.  I love treats but try to watch my figure you know!  Oh here my foster mom wants to talk to you now. She promises to find us the best home!

haggy and Candee are right, I did tell them both I would find the very best homes for them I could!  They do not need to be adopted together, I think they are strong enough on their own to be only kids or with other smaller dogs too.  I would suggest no kids under 5 with Shaggy who may not appreciate just anyone picking him up due to his small stature.  Doxies are small in size but LARGE in 'TUDE!  They are comics and clowns and can be very determined.  Shaggy seems to be house trained as does Candee, however I do find surprises after being at work all day.  But, I am gone a long time so it wouldn't be surprising.

They have slept all night long with me the past few nights and no issues what so ever.  I have seen these two dogs change from one day to the next.  They came here afraid, quiet and shaking to being the adorable companions they are now.  Shaggy was injured or bruised or something at first as he was very touchy about being picked up or handled in the hindquarters.  He is feeling much better now and runs and plays.  They both LOVE treats and stuffed squeaky toys!  They like to be outside and explore, they both ride well in the car and /walk OK on the leash.,  Not great but OK.  If you are interested in either of these kids, apply online and we'll chat! Foster-PPI-60 ID#071808.1  8/12

Shaggy is a 3 year old, 9.8 pound long haired male Dachshund that was rescued from a local dog pound. Shaggy was turned into the pound because the kids were not closing the door. Shaggy and pal Candy (also available for adoption-above) were getting out and the family kept getting cited by the city. So they turned both into the dog pound to meet their fate--good or bad. Shaggy is extremely cute and really small, he is adorable! We believe Shaggy is housebroken. He is used to being in a home with young children and other dogs. Here is a note from Shaggy...

Hi Shaggy here!  Candee and I were taken from our home to a place called "THE POUND" and were rescued by Planned Pethood!  The first night I spent at another fosters house and got attacked by some dogs!  I was so scared!  I think I hurt my hindquarters a bit too because every time someone tried to pick me up I screeched and bit at them.  I know I wasn't supposed to do that, but I was hurt and scared.  The first few days here at this foster mom's house I hid out most of the time and didn't warm up to mom at all UNTIL she picked me up one night and let me sleep on the big bed. It  was so nice to feel safe and protected that I started liking mom a lot then!  Now when she comes home after work (she has to go to work to buy dog food you know!) I wiggle and waggle all over the place, my little body just goes crazy!  We all like it when foster mom comes home!  We (Candee and me) would like to find our forever homes soon too! Foster mom said she would find us the best homes she could for us!  Now, here is foster mom to write just a bit more about the two charmers she has staying with her!

This is Rocky #2

Rocky needs a foster home. If you'd like to foster Rocky click on the box to the left.

A 4 year old male Golden Retriever mix that was given back to Planned Pethood to find a new home after 3 years because they don't have the time to spend with him that he needs.

Rocky or as we call him "Rockafella" has adjusted well. He was timid at first. He plays well with my two other goldens. He has great house manners, is totally house broken. Rocky likes to go outside, run, jump, and play! He goes into his crate (cubby) when we are not home, but is out at night. He loves to sneak up in the bed to sleep. I am not sure Rocky has ever played with dog toys, as we won't or he won't play ball although, he does like bones. I have 2 teenage boys and Rocky enjoys their company. Rocky is very kind and gentle. His is a VERY GOOD BOY! Rocky is obedient and smart, he loves to please you. He does chase cats though, so he should not go to a home with cats.
